My wife and I had a wonderful time flying at approx 2.000 ft over the Surrey, Hampshire borders. The flight began at approx 7pm and the affable, charming crew, Mark (ground crew), and Steve (pilot), were informative throughout. Part of the fun was helping to set the balloon up (and to pack it away at the end of the flight), and this too was an enjoyable part of the evening. Maybe we were lucky, no ground wind meant the takeoff was very smooth, the balmy late spring/early summer evening blue sky and setting sun complemented the gently 12mph glide across the countryside allowed for interesting views, the Isle of Wight to the south, London to the north and there was a sense of peace and calm throughout the hour+ trip. Strange how facinating the ground views of irregular shaped fields, compact villages and livestock could be, but the time passed very quickly; a measure of a good time. The landing was very gentle, no bumping and dragging to a sudden, jolting stop but a glide to a soft stop. The lack of wind on the ground doubtless help but Steve Richards the pilot is obviously very experienced and accomplished. Both my wife and I highly recommend a balloon flight as a special experience.
