Berrynarbor village is absolutely gorgeous, small shop, wonderful church, pub; heavenly peace and quiet. Middle Lee is lovely, the accommodation is great, and the welcome was very friendly. I was there with my mother researching family history and Phil and Christine could not have been more helpful (Middle Lee had been associated with our family). Lots to see and do in the area and, although we didn't have private transport, we managed to get around on the local buses. If you want a quiet time in a timeless and utterly beautiful place, Berrynarbor is the place to visit.

We stayed at Middle Lee Farm from 12th - 19th August. Upon arrival we were greeted by Phil who gave us a quick tour of the two properties we were staying in The Barn and The Harrow. They were spotlessly clean and very welcoming, we brought down essentials such as tea towels, dish cloths, washing up liquid etc, but everything, and when I say everything, I mean everything was provided even items such as tin foil and sandwich bags. The gardens surrounding the cottages were beautiful and therefore gave beautiful outlooks from the raised lounge areas, the bedrooms are downstairs. There was ample parking and a couple of large field area's to walk our four dogs. Phil brought us lovely scones, clotted cream and jam just shortly after our arrival and they were very welcome and delicious. There is a wooden play area for children to play in, as well as the barn area which houses a table tennis table, Phil and Chris has also accumulated items such as body boards, buckets and spades etc which you can borrow during your visit. There is also an outside area which houses a washing machine and tumble dryer which you can use at a charge. The BBQ area is delightful with comfortable benches and fairy lights around the gazebo. This is the perfect base to visit North Devon as it is approx a 20-30 minute drive to the big beaches such as Woolacombe, Putsborough and Croyde. Parking at Putsborough is £6.50 a day, but the facilites there are good and very clean, as well as the beach so we didn't mind paying it. The Pack O Cards just on the right as you drive into Combe Martin serves lovely food at reasonable prices, they also hold a quiz night there on a Tuesday, But as this review is for Middle Lee Farm, all I can say is Perrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrfect - BOOK IT. We have already booked our two cottages for next year because we loved it soooooo much. Thank you Phil and Chris for a really lovely place to stay. Karen, Les and Abbi Rawlins, Lorraine and Paul Hill. Daisy, Holly, Missy and Monty the dogs.

We arrived at Middle Lee last sunday evening after a long weekend at a conference in London then a 4 hour car journey to Devon. Phil could see we were obviously tired, so just gave us a quick guide to the basics and left us to unpack. He did return a few minutes later with scones, jam and cream, for which we were very grateful to have with a cup of tea before falling into bed. Thanks Phil and Christine.

When we had recovered in the morning we were able to take in a bit more of our surroundings. What lovely cottages. All sparkling white in the sun. Spotlessly clean rooms, well equipped. What more could we have asked for. Phil found us and told us a bit more about the are. Places to go and good places to eat etc.

Unfortunately the weather was not too good, but that did not stop us getting out and about to explore the area. If you ever come to the Ilfracombe/ Combe Martin area give these lovely cottages a try. You will not be disappointed.

Don't think we could find fault with anything at Middle Lee. One thing I did like, the owners are on the premises so if you did have a problem they are on hand to deal with it quickly.

Look forward to coming back here and I recommend you give these lovely quiet, peaceful cottages a try too. If you bring children, don't forget apples and carrots for the ponies in the paddock.

Thanks Phil and Christine for a lovely peaceful, restful break at your lovely cottages.

Stayed at Middle Lee farm for a week in August 2009 with my wife and two children. It was fantastic, accomadation was very nice and the village was superb. Very pretty setting and nice place to base yourself for N. Devon. There is a nice village pub called The Globe which caters well for small children as it has an indoor soft play area. Food and drink good too. The locals were all friendly as were the resident potmen! Will be going back.
