“Spacious, welcoming, well thought out barn conversion.”
Reviewed 4 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

The Old Dairy is situated in a small village approximately 1 mile from the beach and close to the resort of Ilfracombe. A lovely cosy barn conversion with plenty of space and everything you need for a relaxing break.
We spent an idyllic Christmas here; were very pleasantly surprised by the Devon cream tea provided by the owners Val and Trevor who were very welcoming. They thought of everything and had even decorated for Christmas which was a lovely touch.
The property was immaculately clean, 4 large bedrooms and bathrooms and dog friendly.
Lots of great walks and everything you need is close by or just a short drive away.
Would definitely stay here again, highly recommended!

“Excellent accommodation”
Reviewed 3 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

Thank you for a wonderful stay. The old dairy was very clean and we were welcomed with a homemade cream tea. The underfloor heating proved very popular with the children.
It is central to everything, although it was a tough climb up the hill after a long walk!
We would definitely recommend this place and would book again
Thank you

“Christmas at The Old Dairy”

The Old Dairy is in a fabulous location, peaceful, scenic and just a short but steep walk in to the award winning village of Berrynarbor. The walk i to the village is easy but the walk back up the hill can be a challenge. The house itself is extremely well maintained, spacious and surprisingly light for a barn conversion. All four bedrooms are of a good size and there is of course the advantage that all four have their own shower rooms (although the downstairs bedroom is not technically ensuite). The property is spotlessly clean and the bedlinen is "crispy and gleaming". The beds are comfortable, the kitchen well equipped and the gardens are beautiful. Trevor and Val, our hosts, live next door and were always on hand but never intrusive - they are very pleasant hosts who clearly put a lot of effort into ensuring that their guests have a good holiday, including providing lovely fresh scones, clotted cream, homemade jam, tea and milk and at Christmas even a decorated Christmas tree. We had some good days out, Woolacombe beach is only a 20 minute drive. The Valley of Rocks, Lynton, Lynmouth and Watersmeet are well worth a visit especially if you like walking. I would also recommend beautiful Croyde with its quaint village and fabulous beach. We visited some lovely restaurants but would definitely NOT recommend The Globe in Berrynarbor - please see my separate review. All in all, a very pleasant holiday made more enjoyable by hospitable, kind and helpful hosts. Thank you.

“A Perfect Setting...”

It took us a while to get used to the narrow roads in Devon but well worth the careful driving to explore this wonderful county.
Georgie, our border collie enjoyed the garden at The Old Dairy as much as we enjoyed the tranquillity of this beautiful setting.
Hope to bring the family back one day as each room has its own en-suite which is fantastic.

“Lovely area, lovely property, lovely hosts”
Reviewed 29 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Beautiful area and a lovely village, although The Old Dairy is well outside and it's not really feasible to walk into Berrynarbor from there. Be warned - the approach road from the village is very, very steep and bendy but this shouldn't put you off and we had no problems. It's well worth the drive up to The Old Dairy as it's in a fabulous location - peaceful - and there are good walks direct from the doorstep. Trevor and Val, our hosts, live next door and were always on hand but never intrusive - they are very pleasant hosts who clearly put a lot of effort into ensuring that their guests have a good holiday, including providing lovely fresh scones, clotted cream, homemade jam, tea and milk for guests to enjoy on arrival. We had some good trips - Dunster near Minehead is most certainly top of the list. A lovely ancient town with a fabulous castle and good places to eat. Arliington Court is also well worth a trip and is particularly good for the less able-bodied as the staff there go out of their way to be helpful. I would also recommend beautiful Croyde with its quaint village and fabulous beach, although this is not particularly disabled-friendly as the pavements are impossible for wheelchairs/mobility scooters. We visited some lovely restaurants but would definitely NOT recommend The Globe in Berrynarbor - please see my separate review. All in all, a very pleasant holiday made more enjoyable by hospitable, kind and helpful hosts. Thank you.

“We just loved it, the dogs did too.”
Reviewed 12 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

3 generations for a sunny week in June with 2 springer spaniels, the Old Dairy just enveloped us from the moment we arrived, Trevor and Val the hosts were attentive when needed ( which wasnt often) and out of site mostly when not.The property is very well equiped, to a high standard , and very quickly becomes a home from home. The location is great, the scenery fantastic, and we all agreed that we had a really great break, added to which the sun shone.

“Lovely country home”

We have just spent a very enjoyable week at The Old Dairy.
It is spacious, open plan, and very well equipped; the furnishings are very comfortable, so that it quickly becomes a home from home. The configuration of the bedrooms is ideal for a family group of two or three generations, or mix of couples and singles in a group of friends. If the weather closes in there are plenty of books, games and DVDs to keep everyone amused.

Owners Trevor & Val live next door so that any queries can be quickly resolved (although we didn't have any). They were on hand to welcome us - their friendliness and the plateful of home-made scones and cream/jam were much appreciated after the long journey.

It is an ideal position, being in quiet countryside but within a couple of miles of the North Devon coast and the large town facilities of Ilfracombe. There are plenty of walks and places to visit without travelling too far, and the village down the road (literally down the road) can be recommended for its pub and community shop for essential supplies.
