“CAN YOU KEEP A SECRET ?.”

Thank you all, for yet another great holiday,+ looking forward to seeing you later in the year, the standard is amazing,no matter which "cottage/home" we stay in.The air makes you sleep like a baby, what more do you need as you walk into a warm home with wine in the chiller, choc's to nibble on,as you wait for a casserole to heat through(one I brought with me)our time with you flew by.We would like this little part of heaven just for us,but it is only fair to let others in on the secret.Mr & Mrs C H. from Yorkshire.

First time at Kirkbride but won't be our last! We stayed in Millwheel and couldn't fault it. It is built and furnished to exceptional standards but still manages to feel homely. The welcoming flowers, wine and chocolates were a great start to our holiday and Aileen's hospitality continued when she took time out of her busy schedule to show our boys round the farm. They loved meeting the newly born calves and collecting the eggs. The under floor heating is very effective (our 7 yr old was often found lying on the bathroom floor enjoying the heat!). It has amazing views and a good outside area- useful for 2 boys to kick a football about. Hoping to go back in the better weather to make more use of this space.

Once again another fabulous holiday visiting Kirkbride Farm. Stayed in the Inchmalloch Cottage for the first time, it was as with all the cottages luxury at its very best. As always Aileen and family were very welcoming and hospitable. Enjoyed the peace, quiet, wildlife, weather and amazing views. Booked again for next year - counting down the days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From the very start of the booking process I couldn't fault Aileen the owner. She was helpful, funny and charming on the phone, and that alone made me look forward to staying.
Our arrival at Dundrum cottage was on a cold we windy day, but the heating was on, and there were roses, chocolates and champagne to brighten our day. The house is stunning inside and out and finished to the highest standard. The kitchen is as fully stocked as your own home kitchen, and every cooking tool provided. The bedrooms are comfortable with sumptuous duvets and pillows, and the two ensuites are beautifully tiled. The power shower in the morning is to die for. The kids loved the LED jacuzzi bath as did the adults.
I could go on and on, but suffice it to say this is by far the best self catering house I have stayed in, and will definitely be making a return visit. Aileen deserves even more than 5 stars for her excellent customer service as she goes far beyond what is necessary. Can we have a 6 star rating just for her please Tripadvisor???

My family and I, two children aged 5 and 3 stayed here for a full week at the end of October 2013.

The house we stayed in called Dundrum is a superbly appointed and well built house with nothing for a guest to want for. This house actually looks better when you arrive than in the photos!!! The house has wifi, Sky TV with full movies and sports and also plenty of cartoon channels to keep the adults and kids entertained alike. There are lots of brochures and menus of local restaurants and attractions provided to check out what's around. There are also board games, books, DVD's in the house for guests. The showers are amazing and one of the bathrooms also has a jacuzzi bath for a relaxing evening. The house has fantastic central heating which kept us all toasty in the cold windy evenings. The kitchen has all mod cons, the sitting room is huge which is great for everyone to sit around together, there is a conservatory which is great for reading or just to enjoy the lovely countryside. The four bedrooms are large and two are en-suite. Everything is top quality brand and works perfectly. My kids loved the large rooms in the house to be able to run around and play games.

Aileen, the host/owner, is lovely and friendly and was fantastic at making sure we had everything we needed and also took my kids around her farm to show them her calves, chickens, horses and geese! She even gave us fresh eggs for breakfast! Another lovely touch were fresh roses, chocolates and Champagne on arrival!

The location is beautiful and set in the countryside with views overlooking both Scotland on the other side of the bay from one side of the house and also Northern Ireland on a clear day from the other side of the house. Port Logan village itself has nothing much to it, no shop or pub but there are some other small villages close by if you are needing anything small or wanting a 'cuppa' in one of their coffee shops. Stranraer is roughly a 25 minute drive which has loads of supermarkets to choose from for the 'big' shop. There is also a great leisure centre with a pool and play centre for the kids.

Overall, I have no problem giving this house and host 5 out of 5. I would definitely return.

Wow! That is what we all said when we pulled the car into the driveway. It was a perfectly sunny and calm day when we arrived (14th Sept) and the views were amazing. Then we walked in the house and just kept saying wow! It really is an amazing place with the very best quality of everything and it all works, much more than a five star house. We rent holiday cottages twice every year in either Wales or Scotland and this is by far the best. Aileen greeted us, she really is mad (in a nice way) and made us feel at home straight away. Champagne and chocolates and the best free range eggs ever. The weather was a bit hit and miss all week but during all the sunny spells the views are out of this world. We visited Stranraer, Sandhead, Portpatrick and walked on the sandy 7 mile beach nearby. We ate at Tigh na Mara in Sandhead (Aileen's recommendation) and it was very good. We visited the Gem Rock at Creetown just outside of Newton Stewart - an amazing collection and must be seen. Very nice café too! Basically if you just wanted a rest and a chilled out week you could just stay here and not go out! Aileen and Matthew are very down to earth and will welcome you on the farm and could probably talk the hind legs off a donkey. Next time we will take suitable attire and have a spell helping out on the farm. We will definitely go back and will know that everything will be perfect.

The best 5 star self catering accommodation I have stayed in. In fact compared to some of the others it deserves a 6 star rating. Friendly helpful hosts, a great location and a superb property. How I wish that all deemed 5 star properties were as good it would make choosing where to stay a much more pleasurable experience but very few will match Kirkbride Farm Cottages whichever property you choose. Eating out in Portpatrick and Sandhead (Campbells and Tigh Na Mara) is superb. All in all a wonderful place to have a holiday.

Room Tip: I think that Millwheel cottage has the best views but all are superb.
