“Enjoyed the meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 June 2014

Had an evening meal here recently whilst staying in Innerleithen. nice staff ,good choice of main courses and my husband was very happy with his pint of real ale. Only disappointment was the dessert, unlike the homemade main course it was 'bought in' so didn't come up to standard. prices were reasonable.

“Dads 70 th birthday ”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014 via mobile

My sister booked a meal for 12
For my dad's birthday at traquair arms as we had been before and
Thought it was a good choice for my fathers special day .
We arrived and were promptly attended to with pre drinks for the
Meal and given the menus .
The starters arrived in good time and most of the party ordered the
Chilli prawns which were good but others in party who had the deep fried Brie were unimpressed with a watery jus whilst my fathers lentil soup was more like a lentil Dahl .
All the main meals had issues whether it was served cold or with undercooked chips , hard potatoes
Burnt sauces for steaks , watery
Gravy in steak pie , the list goes on . In all honesty this is the worst meal that myself and all our party have ever been presented with.
We were at the stage of actually
Laughing at what was being dished up as it was so bad . Most dishes were returned uneaten . We will remember my dads 70th birthday meal for all the wrong reasons . Eat here at your own peril .

“Review of meal”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014

We booked a table here for a special birthday celebration having visited previously. Out of twelve meals none of our party were satisfied with the food. It was quite simply one of the worst meals I have ever had. I don't understand how any chef could get steak pie and veg so wrong. Presentation was good, but that was as far as it went. The puff pastry disintegrated on contact, the "gravy" was grey?! The meat was dry and chewy and the taste was abysmal. The baby potatoes tasted reheated, but the broccoli was good. My husband had steak, which was ok, but the sauce tasted burnt and destroyed his taste buds. The lentil soup was like porridge and had no flavour. The desserts were dry. Table service was good. Surroundings pleasant. Overall twelve very disappointed customers. We won't be back.

“Good food, friendly setting, "real ale" on tap”

The Traquair Arms Hotel restaurant was full of cyclists on a Saturday night. The service was prompt. The dinner was good. There is a nice outdoor seating area.

“Great value hotel”

A great hotel with excellent character and pub grub with comfortable rooms and a lovely beer garden. The countryside surrounding the hotel is beautiful. Highly recommended.
