Traquair House is a very nice place to visit if you are hanging around in the Scottish Borders. The house is very well kept and will tell you the story of a catholic family. All the staff is very kind, easygoing and helpful. And at the end of the tour you can taste and buy the beer they produce (my advice is to try the Jacobite Ale).

The maze was a highlight for the kids. The house was really interesting and there was a lovely cafe for lunch. What more could you ask! Great day out.

Being in the Borders for a wedding we decided to call in here. It is said to be the oldest continually inhabited house in Scotland. A long established catholic family means lots of interesting documents, vestments, priest hides holes etc. The rooms and displays are interesting, the shop small, the beer produced on site being the major local product. Was not the weather for them, but the grounds are said to be good. Worth a visit.

This is a beautiful place to visit. The staff are extremely knowledgable and very friendly with great stories to tell. My second visit and I will definitely visit again. They have their own brewery with excellent ale for sale, and the 1745 restaurant serves delicious home cooked food.
