“Lots of Fish”
Reviewed 12 June 2014

This is a very good location if you like small boats and lots of swans. You can buy fresh fish on the Quay. There is also a cafe and a public house. There is a large car park but it does fill up very quickly when the weather is good. There is also a ferry to mudeford beach which is very popular in fine weather

“Gorgeous spot for families”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

We arrived at 9am and were one of the first in the car park. We saw around 100 swans floating together on the sea, a very unusual but beautiful sight. After playing around on the beach we went crabbing. This was fairly inexpensive (£7.50 for bait line and net) and the kids really loved pulling up the crabs and catching them in the net and putting them in our bucket. There were lots of other families crabbing and there everyone seemed to be having success. There is a grassy park to kick a ball or fly a kite and a sheltered area for kayaking. You can walk from here to Avon beach. A great place for families. Get there early though!

Food, boats to hire and swans to feed on the river. Shame it was raining, but we enjoyed a walk around..

“Great for all ages”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

This is a great little place rain or shine, you can enjoys the rays or shelter on bad days, walk, drop a crab line over the side, dine, drink or buy fresh fish.

Take the ferry a few meters across the water and walk the soft sand past the beach huts, a couple of hours or a whole day can be enjoyed by all. I am still surprised by people who have never heard of the busy little spot, get there early in peak season for parking.

“Ideal for a stop off”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

Here you can take a stroll on the beach have a drink and or meal at the pub, take a ferry across the Hengistbury head or have nice time crabbing. Whatever you choose it'll be in nice relaxing place. Well worth stopping off for a short break.
