I loved my stay here at the Schonbuhl! The owner really makes the experience at the hotel worth it! Such a character, I really enjoyed his rule of no cellphones at the dinner table as it encouraged the room to interact with each other… plus there is a nice sitting lounge right outside the dining room to be on your phone. The owner changes the passwords daily and only gives it to travellers who buy drinks from his bar, really nice Swiss beer and coffees are available (one person can buy a drink and pass on the password to others). The rooms are extremely clean and had the best best views! We stayed on the third floor in the middle and it was fantastic, you can hear the bells of the sheep clinging in the distance. The food was really really good! The owner really put the dietary requirements of the entire group into consideration, and we were offered more in terms of food than what we bargained for. Will definitely stay at this hotel again, for the owner and the general scenery.. once you get to know the owner and his wife, they are lovely people!

Room Tip: The middle, for the immaculate views!

Stayed in this friendly, basic but adequate hostel the night before Jungfrau marathon. Lovely location, clean and comfortable room, friendly bar with lots of information boards and leaflets. Put on breakfast from 5.30 for runners which was a nice touch. Nothing "amazing' about it but good value. About 1k from the train station though.

This hostel is on the side of a steep hill in a quaint village. The main hotel is nice, but the rooms on the third floor seemed like they had been slapped together out of plywood. Our group of students and chaperones stayed three nights, and each time the food was good. I was a little taken aback the first night after dinner when the owner read a list of infractions and their associated fines. The kids referred to him from then on as "50 francs", the most common fine. The wifi password was provided if you made a purchase from the bar, but the bar wasn't staffed much. We left at 4 a.m. on our last morning, and the hotel provided a sack lunch/breakfast for each of us, which was a nice touch.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony.

We too stayed here as part of a tour and agree that it was one of the better places we stayed.

The village of Wilderswil that this hotel is nestled amongst is very quaint and the hotel itself is no exception. I felt like I'd walked into a dolls house when I opened the door to our room with its little wooden beds and bright duvets. We were lucky enough to have a room with a balcony and the large doors made the room quite bright and airy but, be prepared to think you've broken them if you're not up on Europes strange ways of turning the handle on your doors and windows.

The train station is only a ten minute walk from the hotel and if you ask, you get given complimentary tickets into Interlaken where there is more range of restaurants and shops, though Wilderswil had its fair share of restaurants. We did have the choice of dinner both nights at the hotel but I think this has to be preplanned and is subject to numbers - we had one meal at the restaurant which was pretty good - the fish was actually amazing and I'm not a big fish eater.

The best thing about this hotel is the setting. The views of the surrounding Alps is just magnificent and sunset under those mountains was beautiful. You can hear all the cow and goat bells as they move around the hills.

I guess the defining thing is, yes, if I was headed up to Jungfrau again, I would stay here again as opposed to trying to find somewhere else. Accommodation in Europe is very hit and miss in the budget / mid ranges so at least I know I'd be getting somewhere clean, warm and comfortable.

We stayed 2 nights while we were travelling on Xepat Explore Europe Jewel tour. It was a decent stay with clean rooms, good bedding and towels. Breakfast and dinner were fresh and tasty. Wifi password was given free after we purchased a drink from the bar. Though there were a few rules to observe, we enjoyed our stay. In fact we liked the green concept of the hotel which encouraged us to conserve and to recycle. It took us 10 minutes to walk to Wilderswil train station. Train to Jungfraujoch was more than 2 hours ride but to Interlaken was only 1 stop away.

This hotel is located at the foot of Jungfrau in a small town, Wilderswil. The setting is picturesque with the calming sound of the bells of the goats roaming nearby. Amazing! Our room was small, but clean with a beautiful view. The food was tasty and home cooked. Would love to stay there again!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a private bathroom.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights as a part of a coach trip. This is a lovely hotel in a perfect location. The food is great- though we were vegetarians we had a good option. The rooms are small but perfect holiday spirit reverberating through the colourful decor and snow capped mts through the window. The lobby has a piano- if you fancy it. The bar is opened until 12- if there are people hanging out.. It is just 10 mins walk to the Wilderwill train station, a lovely walk indeed.

We also walked to the ruins of a castle nearby, was a lovely walk in the dark.

Room Tip: Any room would give you a great view. No lifts to the topmost floors.
