It was a privilege to stay in such a beautiful home. Our room was spacious, comfortable and beautifully decorated. We received a very warm welcome with tea and delicious home-made cake served in a lovely sitting room. Breakfast the next morning was excellent.

Without a doubt, this is the best B&B we have stayed in. Set in quiet countryside this is a beautifully restored and furnished building dating from the 15th to 17th century (depending on which part you are in). The excellent service starts from the moment you book, with welcoming emails from David enquiring about special dietary needs, time of arrival etc.

On arrival you are offered tea and home made cake, very welcome. This also happened each afternoon we returned, a lovely touch.

The rooms are tastefully decorated and look really good, fitting in well with the style and age of the house. We selected the Boat Room, furnished with a 4-poster bed which was very comfortable. The bathroom is good and the shower is powerful.

Breakfast is lavish with cereals, freshly prepared fruit, toast and cooked to order food including a vegetarian breakfast which was described by another guest as the best she had had.

Wi-Fi is available in the main rooms.

Local pubs in Stoke-By-Nayland are the Angel and the Crown - David will happily supply details (it’s best to book in advance).

Nearby are Sudbury, Hadleigh and of course Constable Country -Dedham, Flatford etc. Lots to do or just relax!

This was a great stay and we look forward to returning in future. Thanks David and Paul for your hospitality.

Simon and June

Room Tip: Boat room is great but the others also looked fantastic.

What a wonderfully relaxing experience to stay at the beautiful home of David and Paul, who were the most charming of hosts. Nothing was too much trouble, from being welcomed with a pot of fresh tea and cake to being collected from the local pub in the evening, suggesting interesting places to visit and even photocopying a map ! The breakfast's were cooked to perfection, delicious and plentiful. We stayed in the Panelled Room which was delightful, beautifully light, so spacious and warm, with lovely views to the garden.
A perfect break in a perfect home with perfect hosts.......what more could you want.

Fantastic hospitality, David was very accommodating and made a great effort to make the stay really special for us. After I contacted him he arranged bubbly, flowers and a room upgrade for us. The building is beautiful and set in a lovely serene area, can't recommend it more!

Room Tip: We asked for the 4 poster bed and it was fantastic.

This was just what we needed! Feeling frazzled with improvements at home and a busy week, we escaped to beautiful Constable Country. Coming from Norfolk we didn't have far to travel, but it really does feel a world away with rolling hills, and Poplars Farmhouse being set in a small valley about a mile away from the centre of Stoke-by-Nayland, meaning that the road down to the property feels like a Cornish country lane! The farmhouse really is beautiful, and as out of the way as you could possibly want.

David greeted us with tea and cake and made us feel very welcome, and made it clear that they would do everything they could to make the stay as comfortable as possible!

We stayed in the panelled room, and it was lovely. Big bed (two singles attached, but with no gap or uncomfortable join), a nice bathroom and amazing and powerful shower. The bed was so comfy we both enjoyed a wonderful lie in before a brilliant breakfast - they say small things make the biggest difference, and in this case the sprinkling of spring onion on the tomato really transformed it for me!

I can't recommend it highly enough. Gavin and Amy

The overnight stay at Poplars Farmhouse was amazingly restful and enjoyable, thanks to its hosts who were relaxed and extremely attentive at the same time.
The location is a gem, the room was fantastically comfortable and the breakfast most enjoyable - thank you!
