With a business project locally, I stayed with Bridget many times over a four month period, from April until July. Travelling with my dog, York Cottage was absolutely perfect, Bridget is passionate about dogs (she's passionate about everything!) and there are fabulous walks all around (only 5 minutes from the Mendips). Definitely the best breakfast I have had anywhere, ever! All of the rooms are lovely (I think I stayed in everyone over the 4 months I was working in the area) - Whether you're a dog owner or not, if you're staying in the area, stay here; you'll love it!

Wow, lived up to all the reviews, website & More. Bridget was the perfect hostess, we were greeted with tea & cakes which we took in the beautiful garden ( which was safe & secure for both kids & our dog). Mungo, Bridget's border collie was a lovely dog. The B&B is idillyic, room was spacious & immculate & the bathroom was the same. All the other reports say it all. We only stayed for one night, which meant a quick change & off to the langford inn (100 yards away) another hidden gem, full of character & food excellent., Bridget's family took careof breakfast which was also outstanding. The best B&B I've stayed in & we'll definitely return. If you're still not sure just give it a go, it's a fab experience

A warm welcome from Bridget, a warm sunny garden and a very friendly resident called Mungo (see pictures!) got our holiday off to a very pleasant start.

York Cottage is a lovely old cottage in the quiet little village of Lower Langford (you'd never know you were quite a short drive from Bristol Airport!), which has been lovingly made into a B&B with nicely decorated rooms, a cosy dining room with TV and fireside seats, books galore, and a very comfortable, open and homely atmosphere.

We had a nice large room with comfy bed, lots of light (and lighting), tea/coffee etc, squillion-channel TV, WiFi and a large ensuite bathroom with double sinks and jacuzzi bath.

We found Bridget to be a bubbly, energetic and amiable hostess with a talent for making scrumptious, perfectly-cooked breakfasts (and cakes, and preserves, and no doubt plenty else!). When we had a problem with our bed on the first night, Bridget sorted things without hesitation, and both she and Mungo proved to be excellent company over the five nights we stayed. Mungo is a big soft, sociable Border Collie with an affectionate, docile nature and an inevitable fondness for throw & fetch games.

Just down the road (only a minute or two walking) is the Langford Inn (Google it!), which does a range of food; we had a 'two courses for £7.95' menu at lunchtime, and although the options were typical pub dishes (e.g. cottage pie, fish & chips) rather than anything adventurous, they were of a very good standard, including the home-made puddings. This appears to be the only pub in the village itself, but it's not far to drive to find various other places to eat.

We found the area enjoyable in itself (lots of nice countryside) but also a useful base for visiting places of interest such as Wells, Cheddar, Glastonbury, Bath (park & ride recommended), Weston S-M, and not too far a drive down to Dunster, on the edge of Exmoor. All in all, we had a very comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable stay at York Cottage.

Neither Bridget, nor her wonderful collie Mungo, were at all phased by the arrival of a 10 stone Bernese Mountain Dog into their beautiful world. Having made a complete inspection of the cottage and garden, Nelson announced his immense satisfaction at being there.
The standard of excellence I encountered during my stay, would put the very finest of hotels to shame. My room was spacious and delightful and reflected the character of this outstanding period cottage. The cottage garden was stunning and was a welcome and peaceful haven to enjoy the afternoon tea that Bridget so kindly, and unexpectedly, provided.
As for breakfast, I can say simply that it was the finest breakfast offering, in a wonderful ambiance, that I have ever encountered anywhere that I have ever travelled ......and I have travelled a lot! Words truly cannot do it justice.
Rarely have I ever been able to speak so glowingly of any establishment, but I do so without reservation.
I look forward, as does Nelson, for an opportunity to return and make sure I do so well enough in advance, not to risk being unable get a vacancy.

We've stayed in lots of B&Bs all over the country and this was one of the best. Bridget made us feel very welcome in her beautiful home, the room was excellent (large, clean and well kitted out) and the breakfast and welcome cakes were delicious.

We stayed here for a wedding at St Andrews church & Coombe Lodge and would strongly recommend York cottage as an excellent alternative yto the various hotels in teh area.
