We found ourselves at this fantastic cafe/chocolate shop/patisserie/bar twice in three days last week!
Although it has changed a lot in appearance since we first discovered it a few years ago, what has always stood out is the quality of the produce. In summer we enjoy the pastries, and look forward to the winter, when we know the most delicious handmade chocolates will be available.
The addition of a cafe area has turned it into a charming place to sit and sample hot custard tarts, bittersweet dark chocolates...... discs with pistachio, hazelnut or cocoa nibs, rich coffee chocolate pastilles, or marbled domes filled with grappa.......
This time we discovered the most rich and delicious hot chocolate imaginable. The 'plain' cioccolata calda in tazza latte is perfect, but should you so wish you could have it 'fondente' and with any number of additions, including little pieces of pistachio, almond or meringue, vanilla and peperoncino.
On a public holiday the cafe was warm and bustling with families, groups of older people, teenagers.... The Ilari family run it with charm and calm!
