The White harte is a strange pub. It is very tastefully done out and has excellent facilities (Kids play area) The only real let down is the food, if this pub did slightly more expensive food or even a separate menu that had some good home cooked food on rather than microwave frozen stuff I think it could be a great success, even if they made the second area behind the beams into a small restaurant and continued with bar snacks. If you want a 10 beef burger for £4.99 or a frozen curry then great but I really think this pub is the main one in the village and could be a massive hit if they enhanced and even put up there food prices with better quality.. A great shame but im sure someone will pick this up and make a packet....

“fantastic fish and chips”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 May 2014

Went in on spec for Sunday lunch. It wS very quiet, but we were early....12.15. The premises were spotless clean, and the staff friendly and efficient.
We chose fish and chips from the menu, and were not disappointed.
The food was piping hot, the chips were crispy, and the fish was incredible
The fish was huge, with a light batter, and it was as thick as steak..

The decor in the place was not very inspiring, and the partitions were a little strange. There was a very pleasant outside area with tables and chairs.
Will definitely visit again. Very good value. Well done.

“No stars - a shocker!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 April 2014

My wife and I have lunched here in the past, before the refurbishment, and were very happy with the service and the food. But yesterday, 23rd April, was a ghastly experience. We went with our 3 year old granddaughter because of the attraction of the kids' menu (we ate last week at The Grazing Cow in Lawley and it was excellent! something for everybody) but Ye Olde White Harte is a disaster. Stood at the bar for 15 minutes to order drinks, then a further 25 minutes to get the food order in. Only one staff member in the bar, and he was having great difficulty working the ridiculous computerised ordering system. That took another 10 minutes, and even then he did not get it right - I was overcharged by £3.70! As he had taken so long and there was a large queue behind me, I decided not to challenge the bill - it was so embarrassing.
The food was equally awful. My wife's Mexican Melt was congealed, with the ubiquitous crisps thrown on the plate, my cheese and onion toastie was overdone to a crisp, but thank goodness i ordered extra chips! The kid's meal was fine; if I ever go back, I'll have the fish fingers and chips!
The carpets going to the toilets were filthy, and looked like they had not been part of the refurbishment. I guess the staff shortage, including total evidence of management, was because they had all been knackered after the Easter weekend. Not an excuse.
Marstons you should be ashamed that you ask people for money. I have been in catering, pubs and hotels for over 30 years, and I'd be very happy to start staff training for you, because you need it!

i really cant be bothered to write a long reviewbut then i can sum it up pretty quick anyway......
no where near enough staff EVER.......the ones who are on arent a lot off use.....the food is ok but there is ALWAYS something missing ,or wrong.i mean how hard can it be,my son went in last week, and it took 3 ATTEMPS to get the pudding right.he ordered chocolate brownie with vanilla icecream,....he got banana bread and butter pudding with chocolate icecream.but the hillarious thing was, when the bloke put it down,he actually said " brownie"....it really beggers belief!! the waiting time for food when theyre busy is just ridiculous, the loos are just vile!!! enough said
