“Tasty wines and a lovely walk”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 May 2014

We had a lovely tour round the vineyard with the friendly and engaging owner. The tasting was then informative and tasty - we ended up buying a mixed crate! This would be a lovely place to also just turn up for a walk, with a large amount of space to wander in and a great looking wooden climbing frame for the children.

very informative half day tour and wine tasting session, interesting to see how much of the process was carried out in house.

“Travelling on A12, A14 or A140 then stop here for a pit stop- toilet, stretch legs, give the dog a walk or grab a cuppa”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 November 2013

Free admission and ample free parking at the entrance make this vineyard a good place for a tranquil pit stop for all- children and dogs are well catered for. There is a comprehensive wooden structured play climbing frame, picnic tables and gift shops. The vineyard stretches over 13 acres and there is a detailed trail map allowing you to venture around the site. You are encouraged to sample the larger grapes on the vines and in the summer months, to bring a picnic. I enjoyed walking my dog Koda on my own designed walk along the perimeter hedge and then following the tractor tyre track back to the visitor centre. There is a well stocked gift shop with a wide range of wines to sample and purchase. There is also a range of non alcoholic wines to purchase. There are 7 different grape varieties here producing red, white and rose wines. There are a wide range of experience days, vouchers and the popular cheese and wine evenings to entertain a wide range of people. Evening tours and events can also be arranged. I found the vineyard to be a well organised place with huge potential. I would encourage dog owners to stop off and stretch their legs here with a wonderful walk. Just go there and see for yourself, bring the dog and enjoy the fresh air on a wonderful walk away from the busy traffic in the motorway. If the traffic jams are stressing you, come here to de-stress and refocus for your journey. As a dog owner, I always stop half way for a quick toilet stop for the dog and for me this is ideal. I will recommend and I will return.

“Great wine and the lady owner as friendly as ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 October 2013

We always take the time to visit Shawsgate when it this part of Suffolk. The setting is lovely, and we enjoyed a walk around the vines in the summer sunshine. Attentive and generous wine tasting, led to the usual purchase of a case to take home and enjoy. Lovely fruity, English wines. Our daughter was well occupied in the playground.

“Fantastic wine!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 October 2013

We were bought a vineyard tour and tasting as a present, as we truly do love wine. The tour was informative and the guide was very passionate but have to admit we enjoyed the tasting far more! We bought a case of six and have really tried to only have one a week as don't want to run out - the wine is amazing, we went for the drier wines and cant fault them. We are planning a trip back to pick up more!
p.s just because the tour wasn't our thing, don't be put off, every other couple had lots of questions and seemed genuinely fascinated!
