“Framlingham Castle”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

After looking forward to visiting for several weeks I was a little disappointed. There is lots of substance but not much content. The outer shell is excellent and very well preserved and looks quite imposing. When inside however, there is just a small exhibition room, café and gift shop. There are no rooms whatsoever for you to enter. The walk around the walls is only accessible by an extremely steep stone spiral staircase. There is a rope to help you up most of the way, but there were points where we ended up using hands and feet! This is not suitable for anyone with mobility problems. The wall walk itself is very good and offers lovely views, but apart from this there is nothing there. If you use the postcode from the EH guidebook you will go down a very narrow dead end! The staff were friendly and helpful, but all in all, a much shorter visit than we anticipated.

“Good way to spend and hour”
Reviewed 5 June 2014

I love history and take any opportunity to visit castles and other historical properties. First of all I would like to praise the ladies working at the welcome area on Saturday, they were really friendly and helpful. The castle itself was actually very good, I liked the addition of the wall walk as it gave a lovely view over the surrounding areas. It would be lovely if there was a little more to see or do, however for the money you pay its pretty good. Do venture out into Framlingham afterwards as its a lovely place and The Crown is a great place to eat!

“Fantastic Day Out!”
Reviewed 4 June 2014

We visited Framlingham Castle over the May Bank Holiday weekend; the were holding a Murder Mystery re-enactment. We took out two grand-daughters (aged 10 and 7) they loved it. It was acted out in period costume and all members were fully engaging with all audience. Every body was encouraged to ask questions of the cast all day (10:00 to 17:00) there was a free sheet to fill in and answers were read out - much amusement. A small prise was awarded to the selected correct answer. Toilets, refreshments and lots of other things to see. Run by English Heritage it is a great day out with acres of grounds to picnic or play games or just walk dogs.

“Excellent Day Out”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

Enjoyed visiting Framlingham Castle on a day trip. Lots of open areas for the kids to run around and have fun as well as walking along the ramparts. Make sure to bring a lunch along as the small cafe only has beverages, crisps, and cookies.
