After looking forward to visiting for several weeks I was a little disappointed. There is lots of substance but not much content. The outer shell is excellent and very well preserved and looks quite imposing. When inside however, there is just a small exhibition room, café and gift shop. There are no rooms whatsoever for you to enter. The walk around the walls is only accessible by an extremely steep stone spiral staircase. There is a rope to help you up most of the way, but there were points where we ended up using hands and feet! This is not suitable for anyone with mobility problems. The wall walk itself is very good and offers lovely views, but apart from this there is nothing there. If you use the postcode from the EH guidebook you will go down a very narrow dead end! The staff were friendly and helpful, but all in all, a much shorter visit than we anticipated.
