“Good hotel for business or conference meetings”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 May 2012

This is a good hotel, though I would not advice it for a tourist visit because of the rather high price and also because it is not really close to the Grand Place (maybe 20 minutes walk). For a business or conference visit, it is however ideal; nice meeting/conference rooms and easy accessible from the airport (only 15 minutes by taxi).
The rooms are large, clean, and very comfortable. During the night, it is really quiet and the soft beds guarantee a good night's sleep. The staff is very friendly and polite. The breakfast is excellent but expensive (about 25 Euro has to be paid separately). The only downside is that internet access is not free. In fact, it is very expensive (about 20 Euro for 24 hours).

We enjoyed our stay at the Renaissance although we were disappointed to find the pool was closed when we got there. Breakfast was excellent with lots to choose from offering both hot and cold foods and fresh pastries. The train stations were a short walk from the hotel. The room was very nice- clean and modern; however internet is not free.

We stayed for 3 nights in a double room, with breakfast included (thanks to a deal we snapped up on LateRooms that made it cheaper than the standard room only price).

Finding the hotel was pretty easy; it's a 5 walk from both Troon and Maalbeek metro stations, so you can easily get to most places around the centre of Brussels. We didn't catch any buses during our stay but there were bus stops very close by, along with a train station (although we were told by hotel staff that the trains aren't very often so it's usually easier to get the metro). The Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences is very close by, along with the Parlamentarium and the European Parliament buildings. There are quite a few restaurants within walking distance if you know where to look - we went to L'Ultime Atome (10 minutes walk) one night which I would recommend. For a drink, Place du Luxembourg just round the corner had quite a few bars that seemed to get very busy and lively at night.

There was a massive amount of choice at breakfast; sausage, eggs, bacon, breads, croissants, meat and cheese, cereal, fruit, etc. I think the cost for a full buffet breakfast was around €25, but there were some other smaller breakfasts that were cheaper. There is a cafe over the road that offered a €7 breakfast that I'm sure we would've taken advantage of if breakfast wasn't included in our rate. Breakfast is available for a nice long period of time so it didn't seem to get too busy.

The room was spacious and clean with a comfy bed, spare pillows, big TV and plenty of storage and seating. The bathroom was a nice size and the shower was good. The hotel seemed quite quiet in general, we rarely heard anything from the corridor or other rooms although we had an adjoining door to the room next to us (locked, of course!).

Overall I was very pleased with my stay, but there were 2 disappointments. A minor one was that the pool was closed - I saw this on the website beforehand so it wasn't a surprise, although only noticed it after I'd booked. It would have been nice to have been offered something as an apology but perhaps that would be expecting too much. Secondly, the biggest annoyance was the ridiculous cost of internet access - €19.95 for 24 hours, or I think around €6 for an hour. I've stayed in far cheaper 1 & 2 star hotels/hostels that had free (or at least significantly cheaper) WiFi, so this seemed incredibly overpriced and we certainly couldn't justify paying that much. It was far cheaper to just buy a drink in a cafe offering WiFi access.

We stayed during April for 3 nights. Our room was spacious and modern, with all the amenities we needed. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was enjoyable with plenty to choose from, with friendly staff to assist. The hotel is located approximately a 20 minute walk from the centre of Brussels. Unfortunately, the swimming pool was out of use during our stay and this amenity was one of the reasons we had booked this hotel.

We spent 4 nights in Brussels during New Year holidays.
Everything was ok, except the fact that the staff changed 3 times our room during the check-in. The hotel is beautiful, located in quiet area close to European quarter.
About 200m from the bus stop to the airport.
The breakfast is excellent; pool was nice too.

Had a beautiful roomy junior suite with large windows with view from two different corners of the room. No sheets were provided for the sofa bed. The Lounge was closed on Saturday only open Sunday-Friday. There was no soda or water available like most other Marriott/Renaissance Hotels. Located close to a museum. Breakfast buffet was delicious in the crowded Parnasse Restaurant.

We spent 2 nights during the Easter weekend and our stay was overall average:
Positives:
- Free parking on weekends
- Room was spacious, renovated, clean
- Bed was really confortable
- Price/Quality
Negatives:
- Service is condescending/not helpful
- Pool was out of service
- Hotel could not accomodate guests for breakfast in the restaurant so we were thrown into banquet room, problem is that our breakfast had less choice and less comfortable
- Housekeeping did not leave clean linens and did not replenish room supplies (coffee/shampoo, etc)

Probably would not stay again, our favorite hotel remains the Sheraton Rogier (we've stayed at the Crown Plaza, Four Points Sheraton)
