Marriott Executive Apartments Brussels, European Quarter
Ranked #9 of 15 Hotels in Ixelles

Very comfortable and functional apartment. When we travel, we like having a kitchen to make breakfast, snacks, and perhaps a light dinner. Kids enjoyed the pool, which is located next door. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful; felt like we received Marriott service even though we were at the apartments. A few random tips: For casual, affordable meals, try the Exki down the block at Luxembourg square. You are also a short walk to two small grocery stores. We enjoyed the free Parlimentarium museum down the block, it focuses on the history of the EU. To/from the airport, the 12 bus was super easy and convenient. We took day trips on trains that left from Midi and Central stations, we found it easiest to take a taxi to station. One evening when we needed a break we walked over to the Cinema UGC Toison d'Or. Movies in "OV" are in English. Spent 3 days in Brussels, and found this to be a good base of operations.

The Marriott Executive Apartments are situated next door to the Renaissance Hotel near Place Luxembourg and the EU quarter. You check in/out at the Renaissance and you can take advantage of the hotel's services (dining, gym, etc.). The apartments are in a building with a part-time concierge, a snack vending machine, and self-service laundry. The apartments are nice enough, being spacious with semi-comfortable seating. There is a kitchen for those of you inclined to do your own cooking, but maybe best for preparing your own breakfast. The room is cleaned every 3 days, or you can pay an extra fee for daily cleaning. I ended up staying here because there was a good online rate as the most hotels were charging EUR 400/night plus due to high demand from the seafood show in town. There are several restaurants nearby of typical Brussels mediocre quality, though perhaps beware the kebab shop across the street. Tried it once, got mild food poisoning, so that will also be the last time. A nearby small convenience store is a source for your own food & drink. Check in/out service was excellent and very friendly. Otherwise, that was the limit of my interaction with hotel staff. If you like self-service apartments at a decent rate, it's a good choice. If you prefer full-service, take a detour.

Beautiful room. The kitchen was dirty - walls, cupboards and utensils were dirty, the freezer was full of ice and could not be used.
The service was kind and good.
The apartment is just 20 minutes from the center.

We got to stay at this lodging for one night. It was very affordable and accommodating for the price paid.

Transportation:
We arrived from Brussels Airport on Friday morning and took bus #12 to Luexmbourg. It is the last stop, so its easy enough to remember. We purchased a 24hour pass for 7euros (well suggested.) On weekdays the #12 is an express bus and only made a few stops but because of morning traffic the journey took right at 40mins. We came back on a Saturday morning on bus #21 and even though it made twice as many stops there was no traffic and it took about 40mins as well. The bus on Saturday morning was completely full and I am glad that Luxembourg (our stop) was the starting point for the bus route. The closest metro is Trone. It is a few blocks from the hotel and maybe 20mins leisure walk. If you get lost or look lost, people in Brussels are vey observant and willing to help give directions. One you arrive at Luexmbourg, cut across the square go down the street and the Renaissance will be on your left.

The Hotel
The lodgings were great! everyone was so friendly. Even though check in wasn't until 3pm, when we arrived the room was already available so we were allowed to check in early. Thank you!!! Sanne checked us in. She was super friendly. She gave us info on the hotel, also a city map and other information of hop on/off. The apartments were next door to the Renaissance . Very easy to access. The room was cleaned to Marriott standards. The building is secured with keycard entry only. There is a lobby and vending machine on the first floor. We had the 1bedroom unit. Comfy enough for 3 people with a small kitchen and dinning area. The sleeper sofa was ok also. At 8pm they called to set up the sleeper for me. Yay! There were about 7 English speaking channels. The bathroom had plenty of towels and wash cloths. Honestly no complaints. The Wifi is not free it was a little less than 9euros for 24hrs and they included up to 3devices.

If you plan to purchase a hop on/off the pickup is one block over from the hotel in Luxembourg Square. There are cafes, shops and restaurants in Luxembourg Sqaure. There is a Kebab diner just across the street from the apartments but the food didn't have any taste. The French fries were fresh and we just added salt. There are some other places called Quick Burger, a chicken place similar to KFC and a Pizza hut a few blocks away. There is a grocery store on Trone st (1block over) check the expiration on the items they sell. A few were out of date. I've included pictures and as usual email me with any question. Don't forget to hit the yes button and let me know if my review helped you out .

we had a lovely big and clean apartment but the only reason we returned here was for the pool. it was closed and whenever we asked when it would reopen we got offered a biscuit. extremely annoying! we would have booked somewhere closer to the centre if we had known and i can buy my own biscuits!

The apartments are clean and comfortable. The Grand Plaza is 10-15 minute walk away. The EU Headquarters is just around the corner. I'm a loyal Marriott person but don't expect your status to mean anything here. When we checked in (at the Renaissance next door), we were told my platinum status didn't work and we ended up paying for wifi, breakfast, and lounge access. It's Marriott's policy (which I found out after complaining to them via email after our trip) so I can't blame the hotel. The front desk at the Renaissance was friendly.
