“A perfect place for a weekend trip”
Reviewed 6 May 2010

The apartment was flawless, nice and new furniture, very well equipped (kitchen, tv, stereo...) with a wonderful view to the European quarter; it's located in a quiet area with supermarkets and metro station nearby. We could use the spa/pool next door (in the Renaissance Brussels Hotel); very friendly staff. I don't remember having paid so little for getting so much in turn (spacious apartment). PERFECT RELAX.

Stayed in the marriott executive apartments for 2 nights while on a leisure visit to brussels. Overall was very impressed with the apartments.
The Apartments is near the trone metro station (about a 5minute walk), and is about a 10minute walk to the royal palace. Location is very good for sight seeing in central Brussels. Check in was initially quite difficult as I was not informed that this had to be completed at the Hotel next door at the renaissance hotel. There was no staff at the marriotte apartments to point you in the right direction. However when we did get to the correct reception the staff were extremely helpful and assisted with our queries.
The apartment was very spacious with a small balcony. the apartment had 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, a dining area / lounge. and a bedroom. There were 2 TVs and the kitchen had a number of uesful machines (microwave, cooker, fridge dishwasher). There were plenty of cutlery for 2 people and a few utensils / pans. The apartment was spacious and very clean and tidy. The TV had a number of free english channels with the option of extra channels at a price.
The apartments also allowed full usage of the facilities at the renaissance hotel. this included a swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and gym. the gym had all the latest machines and a number of free weights. It was empty most the time I used hence no problem obtaining equipment. The swimming pool sauna and jacuzzi did get bust at certain times of the day, but were very enjoyable and convenient.

We stayed at Marriott Executive Apartments in Brussels for 3 nights. Paid 99 Euros per night, including tax. The staff was very accomodating and helpful, especially the Concierge staff which steered us to terrific restaurants each night. The room was a 1 bedroom, 1.5 baths. The main bathroom is a bit small. Otherwise, it was large and comfortable. Room temperature was excellent, and we were able to regulate changes in temperature without difficulty.

As a Marriott Platinum member, I was given free full American breakfast for 2 persons each day. Warning: Get to the breakfast room by 8:45 a.m. Otherwise you risk having to wait in a long line since the place really cannot handle the crowds. They also briefly ran out of some popular food items. Overally, however, the breakfast was very good. At the end of the visit, after being charged for daily in-room Internet usage, I insisted that this charge be removed from my bill, and it was ("but only this time" they said).

The only challenge was using the free washer and dryer. Because there are only 2 machines to support 50+ apartments, they were in constant use and were quite difficult to figure out. (One wash cycle took 1 hour and 50 minutes! A drying cycle typically took at least one hour, and even then the clothes were slightly damp.) But in the end, we got the wash done.

The fitness centre at the Renaissance Hotel next door truly is above average.

The location is not that bad. You can catch a bus into the city quite easily and cheaply, and it only takes about 5 - 7 minutes. Beware the taxi drivers. They all cheat....at least every one that we had cheated on the taxi fare by putting on the wrong tariff rate. It was useless to try and argue with them in English.

If you can get a room rate at or below what we paid, go for it. This is a good value experience.

Just returned from 4 fabulous nights at the apartments. The room was very big and apart from some rubbish that we found in the sofa bed (as soon as we complained it was sorted out with sincerest apologies) the room was very clean. Breakfast (fabulous and so much choice!) was included in the price and so was parking so our time was very relaxed!

Troon metro station is 5 mins walk and Maelbeek is 7 from the hotel – you just take whichever one points you in the right direction.

Chocopolis near the Grand Place is fabulous for chocolate (not as sickly sweet as Godiva or Neuhaus) – they have a fabulous range by ‘Devina’.

We took a Brussels Bike Tours on Sunday (lasts 4 hours –although the time flew by- and costs 25 euros for adults), it was fab and so much fun! Quinton was our guide – he was informative and friendly, all in all perfect!

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights, we had a wonderful experience. The suite was amazing, very spacious, clean, luxurious with everything availabe in it, and the room was serviced everyday. we thought it was a bargain for the price we payed per night (90 euros), because we estimated that the quality of the suite and the service is worth about 200 euros per night!!

the location is fantastic, we used to walk in the morning to the city centre or the Grand Place and then take a taxi back to the hotel if we were tired, the walking distance is about 15 to 20 minutes, and the views on the way are really nice. the taxi costs anywhere between 7-14 euros depending on the time and the place where we take it.
we didn't book the room with breakfast, but we ordered a continental breakfast to the room once which was really very nice and it only costed 16 euros, or you can have breakfast at a nice cafe in Luxembourgh square where they serve all kinds of croissant, bread and cakes.

Food in Belgium is excellent, there are so many nice places to eat. because I'm a vegetarian, I was worried that I wouldn't find many options, but on the contrary I found so many delicious choices, also my husband who is not a vegetraian loved the food there. the places that we liked the most are Arcadi Cafe which has wonderful quiche and pasta dishes, the address is 1b, rue d'Arenberg at 1000 Brussels near Central Station, Grand'Place, St. Gudule church, Galeries du Roi, the galerie is also wonderful because you find all kinds of chocolat shops in it with lots of restaurants and cafes.
the other place is La Creperie where they serve all kinds of wonderful savoury and sweet crepes, Area: Sablon
Address: rue haute, 35
1000 Brussels
Website: www.lacreperie.be
Opening hours: Everyday: 11-23
the Sablon area is considered the posh area in Brussels.

Also the place that we loved is a tex mex reataurant called chi chi's, they have gorgeous Fahitas, Address: Boulevard Anspach, 5
1000 Brussels
Website: chichis.be

of course the Grand Place is beautiful to see, and walking in the small streets surounding it and seeing and tasting all different kinds of chocolate is essential!

we went to the chocolate museum which is just a few minutes from the Grand Place, it was nice, not what we were expecting but a nice experience.

going to Bruge is a must do when you visit Belgium, it's as beautiful as Venice and make sure you take a canal tour in the boat, we only went for the day and came back to Brussels in the evening which was very convenient, the Markt square is very nice.

overall, this trip was more than we hoped for, and if we had the chance in the future, we would defenitely go back there and stay in the same hotel.

Booked to stay at the marriot apartments for 3 days. Glad we did!! Very good service and comfy spacious rooms!
Fully equip apartment with all you need for a comfy relaxing stay :)
Check in was fine, We were greeted with a friendly receptionist at the apartments enterance..........Yes we did have to check in and collect our key cards from the hotel next door which is also owned by the marriot, I know alot of people are not happy about this in previous reviews but alot of hotels have this policy now, Plus if its apartments its almost self catering with abit of help, Which i loved about this place you felt private compared to a busy hotel.
The room its self is HUGE compared to if you were staying at a room in a hotel you would pay about the same and have a small standard room, We had a small kitchen, a living area, balcony, seperate bedroom with bathroom, and a second bathroom also at entry door. Most of the furnishings were fantastic but i do admit that some of the fixings were abit dated and i wasent too keen on the bathroom, but they were still fab. Overall i think it was more of a 4 star standard than the stated 5 star.
Service was great, Everyone was really helpful. Only thing was on checking out we were charged 25 euros for films we didnt see, THIS IS A MUST TO NOTE ( we clicked on the film to see how much it was but decided against it as it was waste of money for one film, This automatically charges you before you even watch the film, So be careful. The receptionist was quite happy to take it off the bill though.
Restaurant was lovely. Fantastic food quite expencive though.
The pool was great too!
The area was great i know alot of people also put this down also, But you are a 10min metro ride into town, But there are a few pubs down in the lux sq less than 2 minute walk, Plus there is a fine supermarket round the corner which we bought breakfast from as 25 euros per person is silly money!!!
God this review is long, Hope who ever stays there next has a great time like we did, And enjoy brussels ppl, .......... Tip if you are travelling via eurostar you can get free internal train trips around belguim, We went to brugge for the day which is only an hour away and it was ace :)
xxx

  • Liked — Comfy bed, Private feeling, Service
  • Disliked — Bathroom, Key cards would fail if you leave them next to your mobile.

Excellent place for families with (small) children. The rooms (sitting room with extra bed and sleeping room) are fine and have a kitchen, so you can prepare your own food if you want to. A great breakfast is served at the renaissance next door, where the personnel is especially nice for the kids.
