“Not cheap and not cheerful”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

I am surprised at how well this hotel scores in some other reviews. Here are my observations which have led me to giving it a terrible rating.
1. The hotel receptionist was disinterested and more bothered about finishing the cigarette he was smoking outside than manning his post
2. One of the light fittings in my room had no cover, making it a safety hazard (see picture)
3. The TV in the room had been 'thrown at' the wall rather than being mounted on it - again it did not look safe (see picture)
4. The room had a wooden and not carpet floor. The silverfish I saw crawling across the floor presumably preferred it that way. (sorry, no picture)
5. The shower was small and the shower curtain kept attacking me.
6. The toiletries provided (for a so called 3* hotel) were a small bar of soap and an even smaller pot of something that called itself 'shampoogel'
7. The hotel is on a narrow side street which is relatively quiet at night but horrendously noisy from 6am to 11pm.
On the positive side - the hotel is a short walk from the fashionable Louise district of Brussels, the continental (read 'no hot food') breakfast was perfectly adequate, the bed was bed-shaped and had covers and pillows and all that (and I have to admit was reasonably comfortable). But none of these 'positives' outweighed the negatives, unfortunately.
At half the price it might have been an acceptable compromise. At full price, it was not cheap, nor cheerful.

lovely hotel a short distant from city center. found it fairly quite at night. breakfast was Continental but a lot of choice. rooms were basic but did have lovely bathroom and there was a TV in room. price for weekend break was brill considering it was major European city. shop, trams and metro were about 5-10 minute walk away but downhill. receptionist were very helpful and directed us to a street with lots of restaurants only short walk from hotel. we had drink in hotel last night and prices were cheaper than we paid elsewere.

Room Tip: ask to be in hotel not annex

The hotel I booked through booking.com was appallingly poor both in terms of location, customer service and quality of the rooms.
When the booking was made online, there was no mention of the extremely dodgy and squalid surroundings the hotel was in. Having spent at least half an hour trying to locate the hotel, we finally reached our destination, weary but happy, only to be told that the room we booked was not in the main hotel building, but further down the road.
I spent the next hour arguing with a rude and incompetent receptionist whose English and French were at par with a 5 year old's that I was not prepared to move to a different building but my pleas fell on deaf ears. After about 1 hour of pointless argumentation with the 5 year old receptionist, he decided to call his "boss" who incidentally was not on site and explained the problem. The said boss agreed to give us a room in the same building (even though we were previously told that there were no rooms in the same building!) but only if we agreed to pay €20 more per night!!! The 5 year old receptionist insisted that his boss could not be disturbed any more during the night, and told us "there's nothing more I can do for you". After calling booking.com and speaking to the agent and putting her in touch with the 5 year old receptionist, I thought that my woes were finally over, but surprise, surprise, the agent bluntly informed me that the 5 year old receptionist was being uncooperative, and that there was nothing she could do from her end! Thanks Booking.com for leaving customers stranded in the middle of nowhere. I will certainly never touch that hotel with a barge pole in the future.

To start by the location, too far from town centre. The area isn't secure at night as we had our car broken into to steal radio and navigation system. The rooms are too tight and you could hear all the noises of your neighbours, could´t sleep all night because of the noise and poor quality of the bed. Add to that the bed sheets which didńt seem clean at all.
No english breakfast available.
Too expensive for what it is.
Won't go back there fore sure.
Simon.

I was visiting this hotel for the first time for a one night stay as part of a business trip. I found it to be impressively clean if a little dated in style but very convenient for my needs. It's located close to shops bars and restaurants but it's far enough away so that you can have a decent night's undisturbed sleep. My party had to leave the hotel before breakfast was due to be served but the staff very kindly opened up the entire breakfast service just for us which was beyond our expectation. On arrival the staff member checking us in could have been more welcoming but that said I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel for others.

Room Tip: The higher the floor, the quieter the sleep. That said I was in the third floor and slept with inter...

perfect location for my business appointments , room was very clean and well organized , no frills but the value for expensive brussels was excellent .
on the down side : evening staff at front desk was very cold , not a smile or no infos on the hotel ( the morning staff was the opposite : smily and super helpful ) and big lack of atmosphere : although the continental breakfast was perfect , and the bf room was spotlessly clean , you just wanted to eat quickly and leave : maybe it was the empty walls , the unsmiley staff , the tv with volume off , no music , emptyness ... I don't know! but the common rooms all have this strange feeling...
all the rest if fine and I would definetely go back again!

Good location on a quiet street but only minutes away from shopping and attractions. Room was a good size and clean. Breakfast was ample. Parking was available in a garage for a fee, which was well worth it.
