“Nice Stay”
Reviewed 24 July 2014

I stayed for 2 nights in two different types of room.

The first one is the Suite Ocean View. It was located on the 2nd floor of the building at the farthest area from lobby. It has a balcony facing the ocean, it was nice and the room has a lot of light from the big window. The size of the room was huge. Moreover the bathroom. But the interior placement was a bit awkward. They placed sink right next to bed while there was a useless "stone garden" inside the bathroom. There's only shower in the bathroom and they should have more light in it. There's a closet in the bathroom but it looks aged and worn, I didn't used it. The mattress was ok. There was also a TV (TV signal was ok, showing local station only) and air conditioner.

The second room was the standard one. It was located closer to lobby, but the room itself was much darker that the Suite Ocean. The bed was an old fashion bed with netting, the mattress was ok. The sink was still located in the bed room area but in a better placement, in front of bath room door (not next to bed). The bathroom is an outdoor bathroom, spacious with bathtub and shower. There was an dark-weird (a bit scary) area that has an ancient closet next to our bed. They should place a lamp there, and more lights in the room. Oh and, this room has no TV but has air conditioner.

Noise Level in the hotel: Quite, relaxing.

Location of the hotel: the hotel was located on the other side of main area of the island, which is Jungut Batu. So you have to drive quite far through Lembongan's main road, passing forest and cemetery. For a superstitious person like me, it was a bit scary driving through main road at night. But it was ok, nothing superstitious happened.

It was a bit far from public restaurant that offer good price and good taste since those restaurants are in Jungut Batu. But main road to Nusa Ceningan Island, Devil Tears and Dream Beach are within the area.

Facility: It has a small swimming pool next to lobby, I didn't swim in it though. Well, it didn't look dirty when I was there even some kids and adults were swimming. Maybe they just had it cleaned, well I don't know for sure.

Food Resto: I ordered Mie Goreng (Fried Noodle), it was good in taste and in portion. I also had free breakfast in the morning (inclusive to our booking), the pineapple pancake tasted so so. For breakfast, I'd rather have a big portion of Indomie Goreng (fried noodle) from a stall near the hotel :D

In conclusion, for a hotel in remote area like Lembongan, I had a nice stay in Tamarind. But for next time, I'll probably try other hotel in Jungut Batu.

Room Tip: Breakfast start late, around 8am, or at least as the kitchen people come.

We stayed here for two nights in June 2014, during low season it was quiet and not so crowded.
Located on sea shore but a bit far away from anything.

Rooms were big and comfortable, huge bathroom btw. Spacious balcony with a few.
Pool area was pretty nice, though water seemed too dirty to be enjoyable.

Staff felt a bit lazy, but no complaining on the service. Food just average.

Lembongan island is a brilliant place, but would stay somewhere else next time.

Okay... So there a few good things about tamarind but sadly the rest is woeful.

I am a frequent traveller to Bali and this time I was on a tight budget.. Tamarind fitted the bill. I'm normally not one to rant but this is more for you guys who want to know the truth about this accommodation! The pictures are deceiving!

Ok good things... Bedroom is spacious and bed is comfy, air con works a treat! Rooms are cleaned daily and water supplied.

Ok bad things.. There are a lot.

Firstly, the pool was unable to be swam in.. It was murky green and you couldn't even see the bottom (even on steps that were 20cm deep). One family complained and only then did they begin to start 'trying to fix it'. Mind you, they never told us of how bad the water was for us.

Secondly, there were constant renovations, they failed to inform us before or even whilst we we there that they would be constantly re doing the foot path ( very loud)

Then there was the breakfast... They don't even offer a traditional Bali breakfast which is incredibly disappointing as I myself leave Australia to eat nasi and Mie goreng../ not under done eggs... The juices are not even juices... They use water and some cordial like looking syrup and claim it's juice!

The bathroom... What a wasted space! Not to mention the drain that never emptied ( you can imagine built up soap is not an appetising cleaning space)

The bedding... Ripped and had Velcro full of past guests hair and who knows what else!

Price: the food and the drinks are well over priced... Walk up the road and buy from the mini mart... Much friendly and better prices!

Our front door didn't even close!!!

Also, if your after half a chance to view your emails.. Give up! It's incredibly patchy!

The staff themselves can't handle when there resort is full... They get overly confused and even accused of eating more breakfast than we did!

Overall... It's cheap... But that's what you get!

Go next door and use the bay shore huts pool or better yet... Go explore the island and you will find hotels just as cheap as this and one million times better!

Sorry tamarind beach... Never again!

We ate at the restaurant for lunch. My husband had tuna rapped in banana leaf, portion of fish pretty email, and I had tuba with ginger sauce. When starting to eat my husband feels strange taste with his fish. Mine seemed good at first, but under the sauce my fish had ammoniac taste too. He asked at kitchen to see the fish raw they coocked us then called me to smell it too. We figured not good smell, and taking a look on the kitchen discovered that it was probable the dirtiest kitchen ever saw, so we stopped eating, paid and left.
Beware! The photos of this place are fake! Swimming pool dark green, not blue. Behind of hôtel/restaurant is a big pile of dirty trash, and all around very dirty, yuk! Do not eat there!
About Mushroom beach: dirty, full of boats, impossible to swimm there, not calm at all with big party boat right in front with lousy music everyday.

It is a quite place to stay. It has a fresh hot air typical of beach environment. The good thing about this place are :
* Good price for the facility they have
* Good location with private beach right in front of the hotel
* Spacious room which relatively clean and well maintained
* Peaceful environment
* Sufficient swimming pool

The bad thing are :
* Food selection was a problem (the same for the whole island since all the supply come from Bali-the big island)
* The mattress was not spring, but it was a foam. It bend on your waist. We can feel very tired upon wake up.
* It is common to see some insects inside the room, centipedes, mosquitos.
* Almost all rooms has no TV, well for us it was not a problem.
* WiFi is a joke .... it is there but it is connect us nowhere.

Room Tip: Choose Suite Ocean View rooms. These room are the most "ocean view one" and it has TV as...

We have just completed 24 days (in 2 periods) at TBB so know it well, and plan to return for a similar period next year.Location is perfect, the only place with foot paths to Mushroom Bay(7mins) and to Jungru Batu (25mins),which are the two main tourist centers. No need for a scooter, after we had checked out the island in the first two days
The grounds are well designed, very spacious ,and beautifully maintained, with great sunrise views(walk to Mushroom for the sunset)The delightful infinity pool faces the Bali mountain
The accommodations are spacious also.We stayed in #1 or 2,which are non A/C (which we prefer) very comfortable, quiet, great views, with hot water and great beds.
The restaurant is typical of many on the island, and there are several others at Mushroom and nearby for variety.Staff are mostly attentive, responsive and helpful, especially Geday. The Wifi works. This is not a party spot,
Low season prices gave the best value we have observed on the island.
Pity our camera broke so no photos.

When my girlfriend and I arrived at Tamarind Beach Bungalows we misjudged the place. We thought it was isolated and lacking. However as soon as the tide came in we noticed we were in paradise. A fantastic place to stay, only a 5 minute walk from the beautiful Mushroom bay, where there are restaurants and cafes aplenty. The room was large and air-conditioned with full mosquito net and decent size ensuite. Would go back there in a heart beat for a cold Bintang and swim in the solid infinity pool.
