We stayed during Easter with two little kids and were pleasantly surprised with the size of the room and the balcony, nice view over the sea.

Swimming pool was nice but rather small and at least during our stay it was always very windy there. However the beach is just across the road and it was very nice and not that crowded.

In terms of the location it fully depends on what you are looking for. We looked for a hotel within driving distance from Tel Aviv and in a quite and nice location. the hotel served our needs perfectly.

However the promenade was not that nice around the homeland we had to drive to the center of Ashdod.

All in all, great hotel which is perfectly managed.

Very nice room. One debroom and one sitting room with a kitchenete.
The room have a big porch with sea view.
The front desk was very helpful.
A sea side walk is across the street. No other buildings in the middle.

Room Tip: They have a rooms with frontal view of the sea. Cost a little more but worth it if you love the sea...

This year part of our extended family decided to go here for Pesach. There were a total of 10 of us, spread out over four rooms. We arrived on the eve of the holiday. At our request, the lights inside the refrigerators were turned off, and we were given mechanical keys in addition to the normal electronic ones. In addition, the electricity in the room was set so the electronic key did not have to be placed in the slot. Upon request, it is also possible to have the lights go off and then on automatically. One of the elevators is a Shabbat elevator which operates completely automatically. An extra, temporary synagogue was opened ifor the holiday, in addition to the one already in existence.

Upon our arrival, we were pleased to find water, juice and champagne waiting for us in the lobby. At the reception counter we found printed schedules for prayer times, meal times, pool times, and the kiddie room. In our room we found that the children's cots had already been set up. In the rooms we found boxes of Tamares signature chocolate, a set of souvenir liquor glasses embossed with the names of various hotels in the Tamares chain, a Matzah cover, and even milk in the refrigerator. Souvenir Haggadas were waiting for us at the seder dinner. We were also pleased to discover that the hotel staff had ensured that all of us who had taken regular rooms were right next to each other, and that the single suite we took was right across the hall from the other rooms.

I found three physical problems with our room: the airconditioner in the living room made strange rattling noises when set on "low", the main light in the living room didn't work, and the bath tub didn't drain. I called for someone from maintenance to fix the problems, which he did. He was unable to solve the problem of the broken light, but the receptionist informed me that the hotel would be happy to send someone up to help us move into another room (we turned down their kind offer, but it was nice of them to make it).

Because of the crowd who wished to attend the seder, the dining room was greatly expanded by what the staff calls a tent, but which didn't smell of canvas and which had a real door instead of a flap. It also featured full a/c. Each table was set for the seder, with a traditional seder plate, wine, grape juice, water, Haggadas and even the first course. Each family read the Haggada at its own rate and style. Dinner was a buffet, with a large assortment of very good food.

We stayed for two nights. Breakfast both mornings was excellent. The pool was a bit too chilly for us, but we saw other people in the water having a great time.

On Pesach day itself, several members of our family sitting in the lobby got into a thorny discussion on certain Biblical passages. The mashgiach (kashrut supervisor), who also turns out to be a Talmud teacher, joined us, at my invitation, and shared his professional opinion, insight and knowledge with us, to the delight of all family members present.

I always enjoy staying here when I'm visiting Ashdod. it's right across from the beach, and a short walk to the Aleph downtown. Wednesday mornings the open-air market is across the street at the beach. As hotel guests enjoy free underground parking, the traffic from the open-air market in no way infringes on the comfort of the guests.

Two minor problems, both annoying, and both easily solved.

First of all, the hotel has set up the Shabbat elevator to work its way slowly to the bottom, and then rise all the way to the top, making it much faster than most Shabbat elevators, which stop at every floor in both directions. It would be even faster if the elevator worked its way slowly to the top,and then went all the way to the bottom. Guest on the first few floors don't mind walking down a few floors, but they'd rather take the elevator to go up a few floors. If a guest wants to go from the lobby to the 3rd floor, they have to wait while the elevator goes down to the basement, goes up to the 9th floor, and then slowly works its way down to the 3rd floor, stopping at each floor on the way. If the elevator started in the basement and worked its way up, guests on the first three floors (the service floors which include the dining room, synagogue, lobby, library, pool, spa, exercise room, sauna, business center and kiddies' room) would be able to return to their rooms much more quickly, and wouldn't be really inconvenienced when they walked down a flight or two.

Our party of ten included four rooms over two nights, and a total bill of around NIS 10,000. One member of our party ordered an extra bottle of wine at the seder. A few minutes later a waitress came around, in the middle of the seder, to complain that there was a small discrepancy between the amount of extras we had authorized on our credit card, and the cost of the wine. This discrepancy, which didn't actually exist, turned out to be NIS 100 in a total bill of NIS 10,000. I know that the discrepancy didn't exist because I sent the waitress to reception to check again. Even if it had existed, since the hotel had information from several credit cards and photographs of our i.d., it was totally out of place to bother us during a religious ceremony for a petty problem, whch even had it existed, could have and should have been solved later.

Having said that, I also wish to say that the entire staff, from cleaning people to waiters, from front-desk staff to maintenance workers, from the doormen to the cooks, did an incredible job and we were all very pleased with the service we received. A very special thanks to Nir, who overlooks the whole operation, and to Alisia, Jane-of-all-trades, without whom we never would have been able to put together this rather complicated reservation and hotel stay.

We booked a regular suite and one executive suite and both were spacious as expected. The balcony in both rooms was very big.

Breakfast quality in Saturday was great considering the religious kosher limitations, but we had to wait approximately 30 min. to get inside as family (We did try to reserve one day in advance a table in advance but it wasn't possible).

Check out in Saturday was very early for Israel as most hotel let you check out when "shabat" is over.

I think the hotel's weakest point is the staff-especially the reception that proved to be slow and unprofessional at check in and also when we had a problem with the card key. Most of the staff in the dining room had an average standard of service, but one rude response to one of my questions just ruins it for everyone.

Overall the hotel facilities are very good and also breakfast food in a Saturday morning in Israel was one of the best, but since the poor standard of service I think the hotel is just 4/5, but with some work of management can be 5/5/

Dear guest,
Thank you for posting your comments on this site. It pleases me to learn from you that you enjoyed your stay, and that our suites were comfortable to you. Our breakfasts are well known for their quality, as you experienced. Your comments have been forwarded to the Chef.
Please be advised that sometimes on the weekends, during very specific hours, breakfast can be a bit crowded, and usually the wait never lasts more that 15 minutes. Since you sent this review for your stay last November, it is difficult to pin point exactly your experienced as described. I take your comments concerning your remarks on the level of service, and can only apologize, and say that corrective actions have been taken. We hope to have the pleasure of hosting you again with us.
Sincerely,
Nir Weinstein
