Stayed and dived with scuba junkie Mabul for 8d/7n.

The diving was (obviously) exceptional. And scuba junkie runs like a well-oiled machine (which they need to given the number of people diving each day).

Our private double room (fan) was clean, and large - easily enough space for me to organise my camera rig each day. I would probably go for an aircon room next time though as the fan room did get pretty hot during the day.

I thought the food was great. There was plenty of it. We took some snacks in case we got hungry but didn't eat any of them!

A late review since I was there the last week of October to early November. The place is great, food is amazing. Stayed in the dorm room and it was kinda warm at night. Place is clean though and gets cleaned daily. Food is served in a buffet and were all local, with vegetarian option. Unlimited coffee, tea and water the whole day.

Room Tip: Get an airconditioned room if you can afford, it gets warm at night in the dorm room, especially if...

We only stayed here for 2 nights and felt sorry not to have booked longer stay.

The guys at the resort are all amazing and highly professional. We especially thank Lydia, who was our dive instructor and who made it an experience of a lifetime for us! We are not sertified divers and she was extremely patient with me - I was really freaking out under the water at the beginning, but Lydia gave me extra time and attention and it then came naturally. So total we dived 3 times- 2 times from the jetty and the 3rd from a boat. Saw huge amount of fishes and turtles. Snorkeling is also good to the left from the jetty.

At the resort we've sayed at air-con room no 7. The room was impeccably clean and very nice. The mattress was quite bumpy and hard though for our liking. One has to keep in mind that water here is sun-warmed, so in the morning it's cold.

The food at the resort is good and plentiful (except for breakfast), but one has to show up at the opening to get the food (especially at breakfast ;) ). If you show up an hour latter, they may not refill the trays anymore and you may end up eating leftovers.

The transfers from/to Semporna take 1 hour, it's a bumpy ride and you might get wet, so having a rain coat might come handy. Planning a trip it's important to remember that there must be 18-24 h gap between flying and diving.

I had been travelling on my own for about 9 months before i went to Scuba Junkie and had been doing a lot of diving out of Semporna area already so when i decided to take my Divemasters course Scuba Junkie was a no brainer since i knew a fair amount about it. Everything from booking my course to organizing the travel and payment was a breeze since all the information i was given was clear and the staff in the Semporna office were very helpful. Upon getting to Mabul Island i was amazed, the staff were very nice and always willing to help, the resort itself clean and the dorms have to be the nicest dorms i have ever stayed in! On top of that there is a very nice bar upstairs and the buffet style food is good quality. The course that i was taking, the 6 week Divemaster course' was done very thoroughly by our instructor who made sure we learnt everything while at the same time having huge amounts of fun. The diving around Mabul is the best diving i have ever experienced, every single dive was memorable with so much to see especially on the site AWAS just off the Scuba Junkie jetty. I was also lucky enough to be able to dive at Sipidan while i was staying there and it was the best money i have ever spent, it truly is a must visit dive location! Overall i thoroughly enjoyed myself and i wish i will be able to come back again in the very near future!

We stayed here during a Diving course and a Diving package. The diving is amazing (beautiful underwater scenery and professional staff). During and after a day in the water the resort is a great place to relax; de food they offer is good (breakfast, lunch and dinner in buffet style with a lot of options) a cozy bar and of course the chalets near the beach.

We stayed in a En-suite Fan Room and it was comfortable (a lot of space, nice bed, good bathroom) and has a relaxed porch with a hammock.
