We visited the Spyway for lunch on Friday 4th April to celebrate our mum's birthday.
We were made to feel very welcome. We had 7 in our party and we all chose different meals. The food was of a very high standard and excellent value for money. We will defenately be returning.

After making a booking and the Spyway confirmed they could cater for me (Vegetarian and Coeliac) as one of a party of 4 for lunch on Saturday, we arrived a little late on a busy lunchtime.

The table was waiting, in the window and the menu was brimming with options.

Service was first rate - warm and welcoming.

Food - well, you only have to read other reviews.

In short the menu is good British dishes, served with style and generosity.

I have been previously and this was as good if not better. I had a very good vegetarian /Gluten free curry - authentic flavours and the gluten free chips had to be checked. Top marks.
Dessert was the crème Brule - very good.

The range of ales is good and also included a good draft cider (although as a driver I could not partake, but there will come a day, maybe next time)

The farewell was as warm as the welcome and the whole party, some of whom who had last been over 40 years ago were very impressed. This is a real "old fashioned" Country pub with modern great British food and hospitality. A winning combination.

We drove from London to Bridport to check out fittings for a new bathroom. On the way back we stopped at The Spyway Inn for lunch, it's only just off the Dorchester road and our satnav found it easily. It was quite busy for a Monday lunchtime but we found a table in the bar area. The menu was interesting, with a few specials on a blackboard for extra variety, and we went for lambs liver with mixed veg and mash and also a steak and stilton pie with chips and peas. Both just over £10. They were delicious and the portions were generous. The house white and beer (bitter) were fine too. With really friendly and efficient staff we were delighted to have found this gem of a foodie pub, just off our route.

We chose this pub to eat after a days walking. Also I had done the research on trip advisor. Me & my husband were not disappointed. On arrival we noticed a lot of reserved tables so thought with it being an early Saturday evening we might not be able to eat here. We walked into the small but homely bar where we were greeted with a warm welcome. On asking if it were possible to order food we were given the choice to sit in the bar or were given the option to go to another room. We chose to sit in the bar area. The atmosphere was lovely and we had our orders for food taken quickly. My husband ordered a starter of pheasant which was excellent and of a good portion. For mains I ordered the steak & Stilton pie which came with the best homemade chips I have ever tasted, and the meat was tender & full of flavour. My husband ordered the fish pie which he said was the best fish pie he had ever had with a good selection of fish and of good quantity & quality. We were unable to fit in a pudding, as we were stuffed!!!
To think this pub is in the middle of the countryside it was very busy and I would recommend booking before going. The prices are very reasonable and the food is exceptionally high quality, and the service is excellent.
We will definitely return to this amazing pub.

We have been here many times and always received a very warm welcome - The food is great and superb value for money. Tim the landlord is always very friendly and the service is excellent. It is always worth a call if travelling far as it is very popular! Very quiet and peaceful part of Dorset not far from the sea.

Wonderful place to stay. We've been twice now for long weekends and had a great time on both occasions. Landlord Tim and family are perfect hosts. They make every effort to make you feel welcome. The food is truly excellent. Varied menu, good sized portions, recommend the Lamb Shanks if they have any left!
