We stayed here recently for two nights for an extended family celebration. The food on both nights was really good (and a huge selection to choose from on the menu, from steaks to Thai prawns to fish and chips etc.), and with attentive, friendly service. Even though we were a large group, all the food was served swiftly and, more importantly, was hot when it reached each person. The owner/manager was very much in evidence from morning to night, and very hands-on, always a good sign. He obviously takes pride in his hotel, and his staff have the same attitude towards customer service. The reception area, open fires and large bar area were very welcoming, and there was live trad music over the weekend too. Our double bedroom had a double and a single bed, and was very spacious indeed, and although located over the entrance to the hotel we were not disturbed by any noise whatsoever. If we had any criticism, it was the temperature in the room - a little on the chilly side! The bathroom, though a little dated, was perfectly adequate, with a good powerful shower and plenty of space for washbags etc. We would definitely recommend this hotel for its location, friendliness and good food - and hope to be back there again some time!

I enjoyed my stay here. Just what I hoped to find on my trip to Ireland. The staff were great and the room clean and comfortable. There was a minor snafu with the room not being cleaned when we got in, but no big deal - the staff handled it straightaway.

We ate in the restaurant, Eddies and I must say the food was excellent, if a bit slow. In fairness, everyone in our large party ordered a different dish. Every one of them were supurb, to hear tell.

I totally loved the area right near the lake - there is a great pub across the street, Burkes. The local people are congenial and charming. a

Room Tip: I had to walk a bit to get to my room in the rear, but I was delighted to find a small balcony with a lovely view. Not sure of any other rooms.

Location in the little village of Clobur is fantastic. I hope to return. The staff of the hotel were so nice and breakfast (included) allowed for many selections made to order. I loved having a balcony and also a shower with optimal water pressure.

My partner and I have just returned from Southern Ireland and a 3 night stay at the Fairhill Hotel, Clonbur. The hotel in our opinion is an excellent hotel, decorated and furnished to a high standard and serves very good food. The location of the hotel is also very good for touring the Connemara region. The staff are helpful and friendly and the bedrooms are very comfortable.

We would definitely stay here again.

You get a warm Irish welcome when you stay here. Comfortable rooms and late breakfasts. It's in a beautiful part oftheworld. Lovely bar food served with an option of locally caught fish. Lovely open fires add the ambiance. What a great way of spending an evening good food, a pint of Guinness and an open fire!
