Old Leigh is a lovely place to visit with its cobbled street, cockle sheds and old fashion pubs esp. The Billet with its real coal fire in the winter.
I was brought up here so have many many happy memories but i must say it has hardly changed in 50 years!
well worth i visit in any season whatever the weather

Great old tradition of the old stall and local pubs. Quite a change with available ressaurants and nosherie. Quite difficult to park as a very busy location but worth a stop to take in the aura of the old town.

I love walking round Old Leigh on a Sunday morning. Fish markets to try some cockles and lovely cafes to have breakfast in. What could be better??

A wonderful old fishing village feel, but it gets very crowded by chavs from Romford and Basildon in summer, so we try and avoid it then. The crooked billet is quaint but the staff are rude, the peterboat gets very busy and full of kids, the mayflower is nice but small. Ye Smack is big and a bit generic but the food is fine the staff very friendly, and you can take your dog in

A little bit of history, with cobbled streets, unique shops and atmospheric pubs as well as the famous shellfish stalls and a fresh fish market at the end. It is good to amble along the main road in Old Leigh, and there is a longer walk through, by the sea to Westcliff at the end of the road. Do try Sarah's Tea Shop for the most delicious carrot cake and other home made goodies.
