We have just returned from a 2 night stay, arriving on Friday evening we were greeted by Fred behind the bar who welcomed us with a smile and very efficiently booked us in. The twin room was spacious which was great as we were staying with our puppy Archie, clean and warm. We returned to the bar after a quick walk and settled down to a couple of pints and a bite to eat, the menu catered for all tastes as we were on a groupon deal we were limited to the 2 for £10 menu but both meals were hot, tasty and ample. There was entertainment on both nights, a disco on Friday with an amazing light and laser show and a live band on Saturday evening. Fred's mum cooked and served breakfast both mornings and suggested a number of places to visit nearby. All the staff were very helpful and I would recommend the Crewe arms for a good break away.

As visiting friends for a new Years Eve party decided to stay at the local Hotel. The rooms were great and the staff very friendly.Value for money for New Years Eve!!!!.Opted just for the continental breakfast as this came with the charge for the room and was excellent valve or for extra you can opt for a full English for £3.99 and i think that is a bargain for the price. Will stay again soon and would recommend it to anyone. Thanks Don and Sue....

We meet with family every year during the Xmas period and have visited the Crewe Arms for the last 4-5 years. We met again this year 14 of us on Thursday 2nd January and all of us had a meal in the bar. I knew that new people had taken over and having read the negative reviews we were expecting a less than enjoyable evening and so were delighted to be served tasty, hot food all together by pleasant staff.

We needed a place to stop overnight to break up a long journey from South to North and chose this hotel as it was about halfway to our destination. When booking, Sue could not have been more helpful, The room was clean and the bed comfortable (we were in room 1 on the ground floor). After a long car journey we were looking forward to a good meal and so were shown into the hotel restaurant. I have to say that the food was excellent as was the table service provided by the friendly young lady who was also looking after reception. Breakfast was cooked to order by another lovely lady and this was also first class. All in all, a very enjoyable stop over which left us refreshed and ready for our onward journey.

We have stayed at the Crewe Arms over a number of years at Christmas whilst visiting relatives. In the past it has always been a really good value place with very good pub grub. We stayed there just before Christmas and the standard of the hotel and restaurant have gone down. We were shown our room and it was clear that it had not been prepared, no soap/towels or coffee/tea etc. The staff started to bring these items in when I looked at the bed and the sheets had not been changed. Eventually we were shown to another room. The meal we had that night was very poor, some of our party had almost finished before others meals had arrived. The (very limited) vegetarian option was disgraceful. The restaurant had no bottles of red wine (!!!) and the hotel and restaurant could only take cash and not credit cards. We will not be returning to this hotel again.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else.
