Our first time in Kippford and what a beautiful B&B location in the Solway Firth. This newly re-opened offering provides couples (plus one or two extra in a smaller bedroom connected to the main suite) with a great getaway in Dumfries and Galloway.
The bedroom is spacious, clean and light with nice antique furniture. Bed was comfortable but perhaps could be a little bigger. Private bathroom is not en suite (just down hall and before second B&B room) but was clean, a good size and offers bath and shower options. Nice view to boot.
The special bit is the (sun) lounge off the bedroom. What a view! Windows on three sides and an obvious suntrap. Views of the Solway Firth are amazing and even Scotland's first offshore windfarm can be seen in distance. Impressive stuff.
Breakfast was good (we didn't go with cooked option but our neighbours left clean plates) but perhaps could be a little more adventurous. Tiny packets of kiddie cereals may be standard fare for B&Bs, but perhaps some quality museli and interesting fruit (grapefruit is a wee bit 70s/ 80s) wouldn't go amiss.
Overall a little boutique B&B that's priced fairly for the area, offers views that make you wish you weren't just doing B&B, but could perhaps just benefit from a little more flair and attention to detail.
We would happily return.
