Pacific Playgrounds International RV Park, Cottages, Marina

The newly renovated cottages are fantastic!!! Now a better value for what you get!!!! Fans in the cottages would be nice for the hot summer months (maybe bedroom ceiling fans) but overall stay was fantastic and we will be back again!

We are traveling salesmen and use an RV for traveling to every coastal town & city in British Columbia. We have stayed here before and will stay here again in the future. There has been major developments on the site in the past few years.
I was surprised to see that the management (Tracey) has elected to create jobs and titles for so many students and young people from the area. In today's world I can see the importance of taking the time to contribute to the local economy. Thumbs up.
The Pacific Playgrounds is in a waterfront location near Miracle Beach. This area is known to be the most beautiful beach area on the inner coast of Vancouver Island.
If you are an armchair critic that only stays 1 day and only looks at the grass and the inside of the washroom.... Go somewhere else.
Fishermen... As of 2013 the salmon returns are on the upswing and you can almost guarantee success just off the shores of the grounds.
The wildlife? Bring your camera. Birds, fish, botanical and wildlife.
For the rock hound... A plethora of odd specimens on the waterfront.
For the hiker & the biker .... You can stay here for a month and not see the same trail twice.
This campground is one of the biggest bangs for the buck on Vancouver Island.
Too many local amenities to list. Too many good things.
Golf course & driving range next door.
Fresh water pool, kids zone, kids programs, docks, beach combing, boat launch, fly fishing on the river.....
Ice cream bar, fishing tackle shop, store....
Thumbs up to the management and the team.
An asset to BC!

This is a very well kept trailer park on picturesque Vancouver Island. All the amenities are here, and a marina to boot! The rates vary according to ones wishes from highly sought after river sights to end to end back in spots. Obviously the more desirable the more the money, but how much is how much? We took a pull through spot on He,lock and were charged $43 CDN/night. This rate includes 50 amp service, water, sewage, cable, and basic internet. Cable includes about 20 channels, half are news and the rest are the usual fare. No specialty channels if you want that. Internet has been upgraded, but that means you get a strong signal this year but no bandwidth! If you want that you have to pay $4 more fore high speed! Per day that is. The shower facility has also been upgraded, quite nice, but so has the loonie machine beside it that wants your money.

All in all, it is a nice place to visit but for less money there are better places, like a hotel!

It is just a few steps from your RV site to a sand and rock beach that stretches for several kilometers, with wonderful views across the strait to the mainland. The pool, playground and marina are all nice amenities. However, don't expect the lovely grassy sites you see on their websites. Plan for weeds and gravel and you'll be fine.

We spent the winter/spring at Pacific Playgrounds and loved it. The owners/management and all the staff were wonderful. Everybody was so friendly and helpful all the other gusts made us feel so welcome was just like a "new family". The cabins have all been totally renovated and are beautiful. The bathrooms/showers have all been redone, Nice and clean. The scenery there and around that area is exquisite, the ocean views the flowers this spring ,the eagles all was so interesting. We love it there and will definetly be going back. We also recommend the campground to anyone who wants all the beauty as well as the very warm friendly atmosphere.

We were lucky enough to have visited for the winter months, and each day was accompanied by a walk on the beach. It was quiet and peacefull. The weather for the most part held up. Lots of gatherings with others that were also getting away to this most fortunate spot for the winter. The staff are very friendly! All amenities were kept very clean. In all a wonderful place to call home for a few colder months. Will definately be going back!

Fourth visit to this resort, lovely at this time of year as spring unfolds and many species of birds flit up and down the river past the cabins. Reasonable weather, some sun, some rain. Cabins are all being upgraded, ours had everything new (linens, furniture, dishes). Quiet at this time of year except when trades people are working close by. Tempory disruption only. Lot's of walking trails and awesome beaches nearby, as well as great grocery store five minutes away. We'll likely come back. 4/5 stars overall.
