My husband ,daughter and I stayed at The Millwater House while visiting the River Cottage Fete. The rooms are a good size and have very comfortable beds. Large wardrobe for clothes and a good shower.
The bathroom is on the small size however prefectly fine. On the landing are extra tea and coffee and fresh milk in a small fridge.
The breakfast was very good with lots of choice and well cooked. The hosts are friendly and it made a change to sit at a large table where we got chatting to some of the other guests. We would like to go there again and explore the lovely garden next time.

Stayed here as it was within walking distance of River Cottage canteen. Lovely place, very comfy and cosy, great hosts, great breakfast. Excellent scrambled eggs and toast for breakfast. Very quiet and peaceful. A very happy stay :-)

We stayed one night whilst attending River Cottage HQ Saturday evening.
As everyone has said Ruth and Tim go out of the way with their hospitality.
It is a lovely house and immaculately presented.
Ruth and Tim organised a taxi for six of us to travel to and from River Cottage, everything went perfectly.
Thank you so much for such a lovely stay.

Delightful B&B. Tim and Ruth make this place special. Very accommodating and helpful without being obtrusive. White pristine ironed bed linens. Very quiet. Breakfast was very nice with good coffee. Parking was good. Weather was too cold and damp to enjoy the grounds. Bathroom was very small and spotless. I could not have comfortably shared the room with my husband who takes up a lot of space. At least one bedroom is very large. Convenient for River Cottage courses and a short walk from the Canteen.

What a delight. Unfortunately, we arrived late in the evening and could not fully enjoy the great grounds, but did have a chance to look at them the next morning. As mentioned in previous reviews, Tim and Ruth are delightful and very interesting to talk to. They recommended two pubs for dinner, as it was late we chose the one in town. Good value meal and host and patrons friendly, as Tim and Ruth had said they would be. The room was very clean, window overlooked the beautiful gardens and the bed was very comfortable. Bathroom had all the amenities and well appointed, but a bit tight shaving at the mirror. Wonderful breakfast. They did everything they could do to make our stay wonderful. Treated us more like friends visiting than guests. We would stay again, but would plan to get in a bit earlier!

My wife and I stayed with Ruth and Tim at this quaint house in Axminister, a 5 minute stroll from the heart of the town. Not a lot in Axminister, save for a couple of friendly pubs and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's River Cottage Cafe and Deli - our real reason for visiting.

Tim and Ruth are a delightful couple, very welcoming and made our short stay with them very pleasant. The room we had was small but ample for a one night stay. We made the mistake of carting our complete baggage up, or at least Tim kindly lugged it up the narrow stairway for us. I would recommend if possible to carry a small overnight bag (we have since started using a shopping bag) with just your essentials packed. The stairway is not very wide and is quite steep.

Breakfast was good and hearty with a good selection of cereals and hot food that you would expect - Bacon eggs, sausage, mushrooms etc. Plenty of good English butter and jams. Would definitely return if travelling down this way.

We stayed here last night, I told Tim a month ago that I was taking my fiancé to river cottage canteen for his birthday as a surprise, while eating breakfast this morning Tim asked how our meal was so it was lovely that he remembered! Both Tim and Ruth are very friendly and make you feel at home, plenty of tea and coffee facilities and even a mini fridge to keep milk etc in! It was literally a ten minute walk to the restaurant and 10 minutes drive to Lyme Regis where we spent the whole day! All in a all a lovely place to stay and an ideal location!
