I invited my family of 10 for Sunday lunch for a retirement celebration as we were staying in the area for a week. I have been an ardent watcher of Hugh's TV programmes and was really looking forward to it. When we arrived staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was very pleasant. However, we waited at least 15 minutes before we were asked what drinks we wanted to order. The service was very slow and our waitress when she wasn't chatting to other members of staff, went missing in the middle of our meal so that the receptionist had to serve some of the food, there seemed to be no consistency with the service at all.
None of this would have mattered if the food was up to standard and it clearly wasn't. The starters were good but the roasts were not. Some of the main courses were served well after others had received theirs, so that we were eating our main course at different times. The roast potatoes were dry, the pork and lamb was tough and the leeks and green vegetable were inedible. We have all had better Sunday roasts for half the price and with better service. Our experience could have been so much better - very disappointed. I have to say that this is the first review I have ever written.
