We were a group of 14 ladies celebrating a milestone birthday as a surprise for for a dear friend and were looked after very, very well by the waiting staff. they were all charming, professional and friendly, from the moment we arrived until we left.
My meal was a starter of Grilled mackerel fillet with pickled vegetables, grain mustard and dill dressing followed by Roast Cauliflower, spiced chickpeas & coriander, preserved lemons with crispy onions. Both were delicious. Some of the party felt that their side of steamed greens with garlic butter was too undercooked to eat - I finished it off and whilst it certainly would have benefited from a little more steaming, I love raw food so couldn't see it go to waste!!
Those who had chosen the Smoked Bath chaps enjoyed the dish but left rather a lot of the chunks of fat which had been in the dish. The waitress noticed this and showed the chef who immediately apologised and took the price of those dishes off of the bill. They hadn't complained so were very impressed (and grateful!)
Another very big plus for us was that unlike most restaurants, we were able to pay individually, just paying for what we had ordered at the till, the items being deleted as they were paid for. So simple and saving that awkward moment when people can end up contributing to other folks deserts, drinks etc if the bill is split between a group.
We are looking forward to returning with spouses before too long.
