We had just been invited to a wedding in the area and I used the stellar reviews here on TripAdvisor to choose where to stay. Normally we would choose a hotel but there is not much in Axminster that would really qualify as such and this place was close to the venue.
I had provisionally booked for 2 nights however due to my partners unexpected work commitments I had to change the booking to just 1 night. I was promptly told via email that NO b&b's in the area took bookings for less than 2 nights in July and August, my booking was cancelled and that I should try the local tourist board for advice! After my initial shock at being treated this way by somebody supposedly in the hospitality trade I managed to book myself at the higher ranked Millwater House which is just around the corner from Highfield. You can imagine my confusion after all hadn't I just been told that no b&b's in the area would take my lowly one night booking?
Anyway I'm glad Highfield is doing such a roaring trade that they can afford to turn away paying customers and let this serve as a warning to all of you who don't have more than a night to spare away from your busy lives!More
