“The perfect cottage for a young family”
Reviewed 18 May 2016 for a stay in April 2016

We stayed in Mannings Cottage for a weekend over the May bank holiday, and we absolutely loved it. The cottage was really well equipped for a young family, our children loved the toy cupboard! The kitchen had everything you could need for a break away from home and the bathroom had some nice extra touches like a step for the little ones to reach the basin. Lovely comfy beds. Diana was so welcoming and friendly, and we didn't feel uncomfortable knocking to ask a question!

We visited both Diggerland and Crealy Adventure Park during our stay, both of which were less than an hour drive away. The local Ferne animal sanctuary is also well worth a visit, with some lovely walks, animals and outdoor climbing equipment to keep the little ones amused. The Cafe is friendly and reasonably priced too.

Overall, if we returned to this area, we would definitely choose Mannings Cottage again.

“Awful weather: great time”
Reviewed 4 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We spent a week in Manning's Cottage which was very memorable for many unexpected reasons. The rain was aggressive for August and so our 16 year old son taught us all to play poker and several other card games....poker chips were a real find for him.
We had booked the cottage as my daughter's insurance uni was Exeter and the cottage allowed us to sort out her accommodation if required and also enjoy the local area. As it happened my daughter got her grades for her first choice but we still visited Exeter uni as my son is now considering studying there. For us, the cottage was a perfect base to explore the uni, enjoy days out at local seaside resorts and spend valuable family time around the table in the conservatory.
The cottage was spotlessly clean and Diana was the perfect owner....extremely helpful but not intrusive.

“Peaceful, comfortable and beautiful”
Reviewed 1 July 2015 for a stay in June 2015

A beautiful property in a small village. The interior is very tasteful decorated and I defy anyone to need something that can't be found in the cupboards; from tupperware to washing detergent, juicers to bbq tongs, it is very thoughtfully kitted out. The conservatory and outside space are a real bonus and we enjoyed using the gas bbq. The shower is powerful and the beds comfortable with great quality linen. Diana was thoroughly helpful, responding to my many queries before arrival and very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The home made brownies and milk on arrival were a lovely touch. The cottage is off the beaten track and there isn't currently even a pub in walking distance so if you want to be at the centre of things, it's maybe not for you, but if you want a relaxing and peaceful break in high quality accommodation, I would thoroughly recommend it.

“Beautiful”
Reviewed 25 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

we stayed in this lovely cottage for 4 days in June, the owner met us at the door and was lovely she showed us around and we were very impressed with how spotlessly clean it was, there was everything we would need, the beds were very comfy and the linen fresh and clean. Milk teabags coffee and some homemade cakes were also waiting for us in the kitchen. We loved having our meals in the conservatory looking out on to a well kept garden. It is a lovely village very quiet and peaceful. Thank you Diane for letting us stay in your beautiful cottage we will return one day.

“Fantatsic Break! Lovely Owners!”
Reviewed 31 May 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We stay with our two children's aged 6 and 7, we had a amazing rest for Easter!

The owners are wonderful, very helpful and lovely. The cottage is relaxing clean comfortable. Very child friendly... the garden is peaceful and in a lovely location.

We were welcomed with homemade brownies which the children loved.

Our bedding/towels were changed midweek which was a lovely surprise.

The house has everything you need with a lovely farm shop located about 10 minutes away by car.....

“Loved it, just a lovely place to stay.”
Reviewed 31 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

We loved Mannings Cottage, we've stayed in a few in the area & this is the family favourite. Plenty of space, beautiful interiors, extremely clean & well looked after, lovely linen & soft furnishings. We had space for two cars, we had use of a big garden, there were toys for the children & plates & cutlery. My husband & I watched DVDs in the evening & were warm & comfortable on the big sofas.
Diana is really lovely & very kind. Stockland is a delight & their May fete is exceptional.
We will be re-booking straight away.
