Decorated in great taste, with comfort in mind, superb breakfast, well cooked and varied. The bed was most comfortable and the quality of the fittings spot on. A large ensuite was well appointed.

As a base for touring Axminster is handy for the coast and country,

The staff were most attentive and friendly as were our hosts. We would happily reccomend this B&B to anyone who want something a bit special.

This is the hotel that should be used as the model for every other hotelier in the country; it's the type of place that when done well, as it is here, makes you feel that the hospitality industry in the UK does still know how to do things beyond the bland corporate shells or the grudging service that exists in so many establishments - without charging ridiculous prices.

As you can see from other reviews I take breakfast seriously and so does Kerrington House. It is without doubt the best breakfast I have ever had anywhere and that includes Hotel Adlon in Berlin. No penny-pinching on cheap juice, tea or coffee and the freshly cooked food was a joy. Where possible, their food is sourced locally and it's as organic and free-range as Hugh Fearnley-Whitingstall's left foot.

Our bed was amazingly comfortable and the duvet was as soft as a cloud. I was so impressed with the duvet that I hunted one down and bought it. (Fine Bedding Company). No scrimping on towels and they provide bath robes too. Cup of tea on arrival served in the casually elegant drawing room with a pile of glossy mags to leaf through. There's a drinks licence so you can sit in the garden with an early evening drink or you can stay in your room and guzzle the complimentary sherry. Although there's no evening restaurant service there are several good restaurants within walking distance and loads more for a short drive (or taxi-ride) away.

The rooms are very competitively priced and there are no hidden extras or ways of cranking up your bill. The cost for drinks in the garden was perfectly reasonable - pub prices. They also offer free wifi which is to be applauded. As usual my mac refused to connect to their system but that was no problem because they just lent me a laptop.

This place is quite simply fabulous.

We picked this hotel from the reviews we saw about it and we were not disappointed. My cousin and I needed a comfortable base for our busy weekend and we felt relaxed and comfortable.
The interior decoration was beautiful with nothing spared in quality.
Our host, Jim, was extremely accommodating and went well beyond the call of duty to let us 'borrow' his office to do some scanning of photographs which we much appreciated.
We would stay here again.

We booked this hotel as a treat for new years eve as we had booked a meal at Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall's Rivercottage Canteen. We were shown to our suite and were absolutely gobsmacked at the lushness and comfort, We had a fantastic evening meal and returned to fall into our huge bed with sumptuous pillows the like I have never had the pleasure to rest my head on. I'd go back for the pillows alone!!! The price was slightly higher than usual because of the date but worth every penny and more, truely what a 5 star hotel should be like.

A bonus night in Axminster due to heavy snow fall and there could not have been a nicer place to be stranded.
The room was sumptuous, all whites and creams. Everything you could need and really nice and warm. Bathroom amazing.
The smoked salmon and scrabbled eggs for breakfast were really good.
It was a bit expensive, but oh so nice.
