We rolled up here having had an eventful journey, being "bogged" in the sand round lake Taupo and having been stopped by the police because a lorry driver thought that a Jucy van shouldn't be able to overtake it! ( we were let off with a smile as we are an older couple not a van of youths!), to a really friendly welcome.
We made ourselves at home, cooking facilities were good, tv worked (not that we needed it) and the place was peaceful.
Woke up refreshed the next morning, fairly surprised to see their pet pig walking round the site, including the kitchen (not sure about that). The owners are so friendly and knowledgeable about the area that nothing mattered. We went on two walks which they recommended and then to see the glow worms...fabulous but a bit spooky being so dark and so remote....but worth it, we were the only people there and free to visit!
Don't be put off with the wildlife, its a great place!
