“Lovely sunset views and fabulous food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 April 2014

Been using the Boathouse (same menu as Goshawk) for years and it is always fabulous food. Went for an evening meal this week and was blown away by the 'specials' that evening - watercress soup with cheddar cheese and cajun fish stew, both brilliant. Good selection of wines, excellent service and such a nice ambience made for a great evening. Must book, this was Thursday evening and ALL tables taken. It does well to accommodate large groups (always a birthday with 'sparklers' when I'm there!), families and cosy tables for couples if required. Highly recommended

“Excellent family meal for 12”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 April 2014

I reviewed the Boathouse mid March, but that was just for 2 of us. Yesterday I entertained 12 people from age 1 to 89. Once again we really enjoyed it, The quality of the food was consistently excellent (especially the fish) and the staff were attentive and polite, and had no trouble in carrying out one or two special instructions. For a Bank Holiday Monday, it didnt seem too busy. The only slight grouse was that the service was a bit slow, the main problem being than wehen several of us ordered ice cream (3 different scoops) for dessert, it took nearly 15 mins. before th waitress came to tell us they had no 'rum 'n raisin'. Why wasnt she/other staff briefed before opening that it was 'off'. It would have saved us quite a bit of time. Also its getting a bit pricey in here. The bill with grats was £290. A similar meal for same family members at the Manor Greasby last year (also Easter Monday) was around £220. BUt the food is good and we will be back. Only 2 miles from home.

“Dropped in for lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 April 2014 via mobile

Dropped in for lunch, fairly busy but found a nice table for the three of us quite quickly. Good lunch menu, very efficient service which was good as didn't want to hang around all afternoon. With good prices as well. Will visit again.

“Gone well off the boil !!!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 April 2014 via mobile

We hadn't been out just the two of us for a whisk and were really looking forward to going back to this always very reliable Pub. The service was as good as ever however the food was another story. Not wanting to get into the nitty and gritty, but needless to say they need to back on their game in a big way!

“Ok, nothing special”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 March 2014 via mobile

Visited on a Friday evening and were promptly shown to our table. We were then informed that certain items from the menu were unavailable which for a Friday evening wasnt the best. My partner order a vegetarian course and I went for the curry. Both dishes came to the table but the vegetarian dish looked as if it was swimming in olive oil, and the chicken in the curry had appeared to be chargrilled then chopped up and put in the curry sauce. The staff were very friendly and nice, the venue is nice, however the quality of the food lets it down.
