This promenade is popular on any day of the year, with amazing views across the Dee estuary to Wales and Liverpool Bay. This once-busy seaport is now silted up and only sees the tide come in when there is an exceptionally high tide. The marsh is home to much bird life, including herons.
Many facilities include several pubs serving meals, the Chinese fish and chip shop, and 2 ice cream shops. The Wirral Way country park is nearby. The seafront has a toilet block half way along, but on my last 2 visits these have been locked, which is most annoying.
Admiral Lord Nelson used to visit Parkgate.
