“Beautiful location and accommodation”
Reviewed 8 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Beautiful location, clean as a pin and well equipped for cooking. Alain in the cafe was very friendly and helpful. A perfect 3 day stay! Recommend without hesitation.

“a lovely and unique place to stay!”
Reviewed 30 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

we stayed 14 days and nights in cave yuccas.
it is an unique little house on a beautiful spot with a wide vieuw, which we enjoyed with the sounds of frogs, crickets, and owls in the evening, the smell of lavender in our noses.
the castles of the loire are not close by, but we enjoyed going to Tours, Blois, Illiers-Combray ( Proust) and Chartres on the way back.
indeed; you have to have a good condition to bring you our stuff to and from the house. but then you can enjoy the rest afterwards. Also on hot days the bedroom is cool. Bring your own garden chairs if you want to relax with read a good book in the shadow or sun.

“A great cottage with spectacular views”
Reviewed 29 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

The cottage has spectacular views over the valley, and we had a wonderful time. Local markets, two chateaux at Le Lude and Courtanvaux were great to visit and very close. This area is off the tourist track, and all the better for it. We were lucky to meet the owner of the cottage a very warm and friendly lady. When time allows she stays there herself therefore the house has a personal cared for atmosphere. It was clean and well equipped. We were well informed about markets, shops, cafes and a local Art Exhibition. The garden was delightful with herbs for our use. The caretaker Alain was friendly and helpful and looked after us very well ..We were there for eight days and would be very happy to return. We'd thoroughly recommend it to others, as long as you can manage the distance to carry things from the car (at around 70 years each, it was no problem for us!)

“Beautiful Getaway”
Reviewed 30 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

What a beautiful gite. The house is set in a beautiful garden and overlooks the Loir river from high atop a cliff filled with caves. It's a perfect place to get away. The house is very well finished and equipped and the furnishings are all great. We really enjoyed the outdoor dining area overlooking the valley. Definitely recommended.

“A comfy spot in the French countryside”

If you're looking for a secluded getaway in the middle of France, this is it. The tiny village of Troo is surrounded by farms and overlooks the Loire valley. It's very quiet and beautiful. The cottage is quite nice. It's two rooms stacked on top of each other connected by a spiral staircase. The upper floor has a couple of couches, a table, and the kitchen. By European standards, this kitchen is quite large. The door opens onto a wonderful terrace. The lower floor has a bedroom and the bathroom. The property owner, Kate, was extremely helpful and communicative. We had absolutely no problems at all during our stay, and we'd recommend it highly. The one word of caution is that since it's off the beaten path, you'll have to drive a bit farther to see the popular chateaus of the Loire. Of course, there are so many things to see in this region, you'll easily find lots to enjoy. It was a unique experience to stay in one of these "troglodyte" homes. It's not really a cave, it's just built on the hillside. The property description is accurate that you need to park a couple of blocks away up a steep path. That's sort of nice in that there are no cars nearby. In summary, this was an awesome cottage.

“Get away from it all in Deep France”

Stayed for a week in September. The booking process was very easy and the deposit was returned within a day of departure. The gite was clean and charming with stunning views over the valley. Troo itself is a charming village and the area has several points of interest, most notably the stunning early frescos in some local churchs. Visiting various Chateaux of the area namely Chambord, Blois, Amboise and Chenonceau is possible but travel time is an hour/hour and half each way. Still well worth it. There are some very pretty villages in the area. The main benefit to this gite is the get away from it all feel. Do nothing except glasses of wine on the terrace and catch up on the reading. With no Roads and very comfortable bed a great nights sleep is guaranteed. The gite has excellent wifi, however if you are staying for a number of days note there is no TV or DVD player so if you are there for more than a couple of days you might want to bring a Laptop to watch things on. For a week of relaxation (and a good Cardio Vascular work out going up to the car!) I can certainly recommend it.
