“Friendly staff and very nice place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2012

We had a great stay at Ammes Apartments, although the planes are getting more frequent. The first days we were awakened by the 06:45 flight, which is a bit early for us. But apart from that, the place is quiet, clean and tidy, with the best staff we have ever met. Izabella and Giorgio in the pool bar are true gems, they have weekly barbeques (on thursdays, don't miss it) and tend the bar in an impeccable way. Smiling and positive and always welcome to help. The keeper in the reception helped us to arrange a car hire, very cheap, and did everything so that we would feel at home, which we did. The kids loved the pool, the milkshakes and the planes over our heads.

Ammes apartments were the perfect base for our Kefalonia adventure! about 4 minutes from the airport (don't get a taxi - you can walk it!) the rooms are basic but spacious and clean. A small kitchenette and dining area, as well as a TV (greek satellite only), and a basic but clean bathroom - it was all you could want, with beautiful views! The pool is lovely and clean and the pool bar, run by the lovely Isabella and George is great. Fabulous home-cooked food and friendly service. The adjoining restaurant was the best restaurant we ate at over the two weeks. The planes flying overhead will take you by suprprise, but you only get 4 or a 5 a day and it's quite exciting! On first arriving we did panic we were in the middle of nowhere as the apartments really are on their own with no immediate amenities, however, once you explore, you find Svoronata is a 10min walk up the hill and has a mini market and a few restaurants, but you really are only 10min drive from Lassi and Argostoli. Lassi is a strip of local-run bars, restaurants, and shops, with all you could need. The Costa Costa beach there is beautiful and has a fabulous beach bar and water sports etc. Argostoli has a bustling square and great shopping with a lovely harbour. The Ammes beach (5 mins from the apartment) is so quiet and peacful too!
HIRE A CAR! you can do the whole island in a day and it's the most breath taking place ever! Visit Myrtos beach - stunning! And dont be scared of the roads - ask Isabella where to go and she will tell you - then go for it! You can't get lost, it's all sign posted and it's so worth doing!
I will go back to Kefalonia again without doubt, and I will go and stay at the Ammes hotel as it was perfect for a value for money, self catering trip with lovely staff and a great atmosphere.

We are going to Ammes again in late May, as we really enjoyed staying there last year looking forward to the excellent food in the Resturant. The rooms are large and the views are stunning from the rooms especially the sun sets.
Ammes is close to the airport so no long transfer journeys for us.and there is a really nice beach accross the road, also there are some nice walks around the area and a marina just around the corner.
The staff are all really freindly and they also have a Greek night once a week.
If you want a relaxing holiday this is the place to go.

My wife and I found Ammes whilst killing time waiting for a flight home some years ago and got chatting to the girl who ran the pool bar, when we left we said we must return and did so the following year and are now regular visitors. For anyone wanting a quite relaxing holiday this is the place for you.A family run hotel very close to a selection of beaches and only a five minute drive from the airport. The hotel restuarant is very popular and there you will find Fondas who runs it.The rooms are spacious and include basic cooking facilities should you ever tire of Geek food!.The pool is large enough and there are plenty of loungers and sunshades. The pool bar is very good, run by Isabella and George, this is a very popular meeting place for both holiday makers and those Brits who have made this lovely Island there home,a good selection of drinks and light meals are always available and the bar stays open late. There are some nice beaches within easy reach and the local one is very good.

This was the most relaxing, stress free holiday......EVER!.
Our balcony overlooked the most stunning sea vew.
The sunset was a picture that would be impossible to paint.
The island is so peacful and serene. Perfect for people who just want to chill out!
This is absolutely what we were looking for, and we got it!
Traveling as a couple of our age(50)it was perfect.
We went at the end of the season therefore it was very quiet.
We were told it was busier mid season, but still not overcrowded.
If you are looking for a lively resort this place is not for you!
If you wanted to go with a young family, or teenagers, you would be advised to hire a car.
Busier parts of this beautiful island are not too far away, you would need to travel as there is no night life,
Again, perfect for us.
The only noise we heard was aeroplanes, it is right under the runway, This was in fact a novelty,
so few and far between.
A family run buisness, with genuine warmth and friendship, nothing was too much trouble.
Excellent restaurant food,or tasty snacks at the pool bar.
From the owner to the cleaning staff we were made to feel very welcome,
The room was clean and bright and contained a TV, Hairdryer and Kettle
A Basic kitchenette but everything we required,
However there wasn't a toaster or grill just hot plates,
If you go self catering be aware that the local shops are quite a long walk from here
and only stock the basics!
Argostoli the capital is a short taxi ride (10 mins) where you can purchase most things and cheaper!
Just be aware the mosquitos show no mercy! be prepared with repellant!
All in all, wonderful.
We met some lovely people.
We fell in love with the place so much that we never want to go anywere but here again,
Be back soon,
Chris and Lorraine, West Midlands.

Room Tip: Balcony view much better than ground floor just one flight of stairs!

we are a family of 5, and thoroughly enjoyed our 2 weeks at ammes studios. Studios are very clean, with basic kitchen facilities, but the location is outstanding, right across the road from the beach. The road inbetween is very quiet, and the apartments are set back among the trees with lovely sea and sunset views. The pool area is very spacious with a pool bar serving snacks. There is a restaurant attached to the hotel which serves some of the best food we have tasted in Greece, countless times we set off to walk to a nearby taverna, and only got as far as the hotel restaurant, with lovely sea views and daily specials why go anywhere else.
All together a fantastic holiday and we will definately be back.

The room was basic but clean and large, with balcony, a smapp TV, and AC. When we arrived the hotel restaurant was preparing for live music evening. Scared, I asked the proprietor about this, and he said that he owned both hotel and restaurant, and he wouldn't let noise from the restaurant ruin the hotel business. True to his word, the music stopped around 23:30 and it was very peaceful afterwards. A word of caution, when bathing in the pool you could see the landing airplanes up close. I personally liked that, but some may find it annoying. However there are no flights between 2300 and 0800 so sleeping is undisturbed.
The pool was very nice, and the pool bar too. Not noisy but helpful, you could get a drink or snack to relax by the pool Restaurant was nice too, you wouldn't go out of your way to dine there, but it was very nice in case you didn't want to go to Argostoli in the evening.
The nearby (walking distance) beach was sandy, and nice, depending on the direction of the wind. Perhaps you wouldn't go out of your way to drive there for a swim, but having it outside the hotel for a dip was lovely.

All in all, this hotel offered a relaxing holiday, and is well worth the price.
