We were welcomed with a kind smile and friendly conversation. The owners went way beyond the call of duty to meet our needs. The hotel is really clean and I would definitely recommend staying there. Breakfast was really tasty. The owners are really dedicated to making your stay a happy one. Next time we are in that part of the country we will definitely be staying at the Kings Head Hotel. Tim and Julie - lovely to meet you and thanks for a lovely stay from Sharon & Hugh xx

We stayed here for the Bungay Marathon - hosts not only printed out maps to help us get to the marathon staging area, but cooked us an "off-menu" pasta dinner, out of hours per our specific preferences, also added porridge to the breakfast menu as a special request... They allowed us to extend check-out time to be able to use the shower and even took us to the train station, allowing us to enjoy some chill-out time in the bar before we left!

Despite there being a live music event on our nights stay, this in no way impeded sleep - in fact I had one of the better nights rest I've had in a while! The owners seem to be doing their utmost to develop and improve the pub/hotel on a budget and within listed building requirements. I would happily stay here again and gladly recommend it to friends and family.

Visited the hotel on the 9th of febuary for a open evening and having viewed the hotel a year ago "wow!" the new owners have really made a HUGE effort to make the hotel a nice place to stay/drink.
The food is excellent and staff are great!. The rooms have been totally revamped with paint and new furniture but the old aspects of the building have been kept "remember it is VERY old!" the bar areas are clean and tidy , the selection of beers & ciders good & the hotel also benefits from two good sized function rooms as well both with there own bars. All in all the whole place has changed and for the better! and as a small business would not hessitate to hold events here and use the hotel rooms.
After reading reviews on here "some recent" i think some people should goto specsavers or be more realistic! this is not a travel lodge or premier inn with no character and cardboard staff but a nice family run local & full of history hotel.
Will definately be back soon!!!!

I stayed at this hotel about 18 months ago. It was such an unpleasant experience I vowed never to return, however as this is the only hotel in Bungay I didn't have much option. Since my last visit the hotel is under new management who have renamed the hotel The King's Head & Queens Jules (!!). Despite the name change and attempts of the new owners to spruce up the place with a few pots of paint nothing much has changed. The hotel is still dire with very poor standards of hygiene throughout. The carpets and curtains are especially filthy and the matresses looked as if they hadn't been replaced since the Hotel was first opened in 1632!! The hotel is very noisey - the sound of its ancient plumbing kept me awake or maybe it was the youths outside my window playing loud music until 2am!! Breakfast was inadequate with a very poor selection. The bathroom was skanky and disgusting. It would be cheaper to demolish the hotel and re-build then spend the money to bring this dump into the 21st Century. The hotel represents very poor value for money. Apparently, Dick Turpin visited Bungay in 1739. Like Turpin's victims, I felt robbed!! Don't visit The King's Head and Queens Jules - a nasty hotel.

We do not recognise this description of the Kings Head as other reviews since we took over in November last year have been broadly positive and have recognised the improvements we have made. We also have no record of a guest of this name staying and many of the comments are lifted from reviews before we took over or from anonymous (and unfounded) complaints we have received. We talk to all guests before they leave and have not had complaints of this nature. If the reviewer would like to contact us we would be happy to discuss this with them and see if there is anything we can do to recompense if the review is genuine

Very central and handy, friendly new owners, easy to find, plenty of parking. Noisy ancient plumbing though, and maybe new mattresses will come in time. Beware the "live" events at the club behind the pub, especially at weekends, if you want a quiet sleep. New owners great, I'm sure they're trying to get settled and a feel for the place before trying to fix everything. Breakfast could be a bit more substantial. Potential ;-))
