“Best spa in the world!”
Reviewed 31 August 2011

Stayed here for 5 nights with our 14 year old - the beach was much better than expected and there were lovely walks to higher lakes too. Beaver and bear trip was great. The spa was just fantastic with amazing views across the lake (but need to be over 16 and the hotel pool was a little disappointing for our 14 year old). We have been to spas all over the world, but the plunge pools and view from the sauna window here were just the best...such a feeling of serenity.
Service and food were good. Room was large and perfectly pleasant.

Stayed at Sacacomie Lodge for two nights. with my mum and dad, Was a bit hard to find location, lack of signs, but what a fantastic sight when we did find it!

At Check-in we were allocated and shown to the wrong room but this was soon rectified. The bell boy was very helpful, I didn't catch his name but he took his time to talk to us and recommended what we should do on our short stay to get the best out of our stay.
He recommended we do some activities, which the hotel organise. Can be pricey if lots of you but well worth it and great value for what you experience!
There are LOTS of activities to take part in. Highly recommend the Bears and Beavers watching and visiting the home of the Sled Dogs.
The guide for Bears and Beavers watching (Marc I think?) and the guide for Sled Dogs visit was FANTASTIC, full of passion, interesting facts and stories for guests. They both took lots of time to answer questions and had such a sincere interest in what they do.
We learn't alot about the wildlife, area and lifestyle around Sacacomie.
The guy that runs the Sled Dogs home is a Jem, very hard working!

The room was lovely, just what we wanted from a Lodge, cosy, warm, comfy bed, good shower, jacuzzi bath. Free wifi...the list is endless.

The restaurant was also amazing, food buffet had lots of choice and cooked to a high standard, although fish was a bIt overcooked on second evening, this was a late sitting though by the time we had finished our Bears and Beavers Tour.
Staff were ALL helpful and efficient. My water glass was always topped up! It was endless! :-)
The team at Sacacomie are a team. They work well and take pride in what they do and lots of time with guests!
Spa looked great, didn't get to use it though!
Views of lake are beautiful! I would love to visit again and hope to!

The only thing that would be helpful is signs in ENGLISH, as we visited from UK, we know some french but didn't know this was the main language spoken here so we found it hard to navigate around walks more and the hotel. Maybe staff could know a little more english as they did struggle but also did make the effort to do their best! Other than that,

A very memorable short stay!

Room Tip: Lake View room!

We had a comparable large room with view on the lake, a balcony and a third bed, despite we booked a room that was advertised on the internet having no balcony. As it was summer it was very hot in the room as there is no air condition. The room had also no TV but this was ok for us.
The food in the restaurant was very good, the prices for wine and beer were ok. We also used the cayaks which were available for free and made a three hour hiking through the forests (you need a lot if insect repellant). For our second night we booked a bear and beaver tour which took approx 2.5 hours and was interesting and we had the chance to see the animals.

We stayed two nights at the Sacacomie Hotel and we really enjoyed it. It is a beautiful place with a incredible view on the lake. Our room was just what we expected, it had no TV and it was perfect. We had the time we wanted to speak together, to visit the site without connections to the "real life". The food was a bit disappointing. We expected to get a four-service dinner, but it was a medium quality buffet, as for the breakfast. It is the only thing I didn't like. There are numbers of free activities like swimming at the beach, canoe, kayak and hiking in the walk paths into the woods. We did take an horse ride and really enjoyed it. We also take the Geos spa access for one day. It was relaxing, quiet (the place is only accessible for people over 16 and we loved the idea) with a stunning view of the lake from the jacuzzi. Finally, I think that the staying might be a little expensive, but for a loving trip (do not take the children there) it worth the price. It is definitely a must-see for a few days (avoid 5-day staying, you might get bored!). Once there, just relax, have a drink and enjoy!

We thought there may be trouble when we booked on line, it was confirmed, then cancelled by the hotel staff. We rebooked, requesting a lake view room. When we arrived we were welcomed and shown our room with a great lake view, so well worth it I thought. It had a tub in the room, and a log fire and a huge deck.
There is no TV, but this is a beautiful huge log cabin hotel on the side of the hill overlooking a lovely lake, so TV was not part of the attraction. There was free WiFi which was really fast, and so hubby did download a film to watch at night - great. The bed was more uncomfortable than I care to mention, which was disappointing.
It is very remote (half an hour to the nearest small town), and so we ate in the hotel each night and of course had breakfast too. The food was OK, though buffet, breakfast had great choices, and in the evening there were usually three choices, so could find something.
We enjoyed use of the canoes on the lake and took a beaver and bear watching tour. We made use of the swimming pool, but the spa was about 30CAD extra a day, per person, so we didn't go for that. We quite enjoyed a few activities on the lake and lots of relaxing (though snoozing in the afternoon was made a little more difficult with seaplanes zooming around)
The real problem was on check out, when we were told we had requested a suite. We had only requested a lake view, and had only been given one room, so albeit a nice room not a suite. Eventually they agreed about it, but we couldn't identify the differnece between what they wanted to charge and what we had been told we would pay when we booked. The charges they put on for dinner were unclear as it was a "different department" and we just couldn't work it out and in the end we had to give in. They said the confusion was due to an earlier strike by staff, and the different departments within the hotel. The lack of clarity over the bill left us feeling hard done by and ruined the experience.
If staying here I would strongly advise getting a package that included meals to avoid the confusion, and take any evidence of the amount you expect to pay.

Room Tip: get a lake view
