“A compact but spacious house - comfortable in any weather”
Reviewed 1 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We (2 adults and 2 teens) stayed in this holiday letting during a week of typically mixed English summer weather. We appreciated the access to walking and cycling routes from the front door or within a short drive's distance, as well as the garage space that we used for storing bikes. Both the property owner (Graham) and the property manager (Jacky) were extremely quick and helpful in dealing with the minor issues that we came across.

We loved the two large flat-screen TVs - great for watching films on rainy days, but be aware, there is no DVD player. The house is comfortable and cosy in poor weather, and has lovely outdoor areas for when the sun shines.

“ideal for our purpose”
Reviewed 10 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

I wanted to find a place to stay near where our elder son and his family were camping; I also wanted somewhere where our other son and his wife and two children could stay with myself and my husband if they desired and where we could eat and relax as a group of ten in the evenings. I looked at the Forest Lodges nearby but was shocked at the cost and not at all sure of their matching my requirements. Finding Ellis Lodge was divine provision. 3 good well equipped bedrooms with showers, large kitchen and dining table, excellent lounge area where some could sit and watch TV or read while others played board games on the table. There is a pleasant outside area to sit and relax and the position is ideal for visiting interesting and child friendly places in the forest. We were made most welcome with coffee tea and milk provided and willingness to supply the odd items (trays) that we requested.
Just a little comment: there were two microwaves, but no covered dishes in which to put food to microwave!

“Beautiful place!!”
Reviewed 5 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

Stayed here May bank holiday 2015 with 2 other couples. It's a fantastic house, really clean and beautifully presented! There's room for 3 cars on the drive and all rooms are really spacious. We canoed on the Saturday, lots of places very nearby and we cycled down to the river on the Sunday. Be warned of you don't like hills though....they're some of the steepest I've cycled! All in all a great stay!! Thoroughly enjoyed it :))

“As well placed and probably as well equipped as the posh lodges over the road - but at half the price!”
Reviewed 19 March 2015 for a stay in March 2015

Ideally placed for exploration of the Forest of Dean, with forest paths starting literally across the road. The house had everything we needed and communication with the owners was very good. Excellent local Free House pubs!

Comfortable, clean and cosy. A perfect base for exploring the whole of the forest of Dean and surrounding area. We had a great stay again and really didn't want to go home. Looking forward to returning soon.

A big thank you to Ellis Lodge for a wonderful stay. The owner responded promptly to my booking request, and when asked for additional information was extremely helpful and friendly. The property was spotlessly clean and beautifully presented. We were three couples and Ellis Lodge worked extremely well for our party with each couple having their own en-suite. The dining area and lounge is lovely for a family group, and the log burner added an extra special touch. A big thank you also for providing a lovely Christmas tree. We would definitely recommend Ellis Lodge and would stay again.

“Perfect getaway”
Reviewed 4 January 2015 for a stay in January 2015

Elilis Lodge is a beautifully appointed, modern house in a great location. Literally a stone's throw from the Forest of Dean, and being dog friendly, it is a great place to stay with your pooch.
Great value too.
