Pedras da Rainha
Ranked #1 of 2 Hotels in Cabanas
Reviewed 9 June 2014

I visited Pedras twice now, and both times had a wonderful stay. The park is amazing - lots of green, spacious, and plenty of privacy. The apartments are fairly basic, rustic even, but they are clean and do have a nice atmosphere. There is free WIFI around the restaurant and pool area. The service of the reception is really quite good. For example, I arrived early in the morning, but my room was ready and I could move straight in. Likewise, a late checkout on the day of departure was no problem and came at no extra costs. Pedras da Rainha is right in the middle of Cabanas, which means that shops, restaurants and the beach are all within easy walking distance. I recommend renting a bike while there - it's a wonderful bike ride to Tavira, only 15-20 minutes right through the nature reserve Ria Formosa. There are good bicycle routes along both the east and west coast, and it's a nice way to explore the area. Don't rent a bike from the shop next to the reception (very expensive) - go to one of the two newspapershops on the boulevard, they have good quality bikes that cost you 35 euros for an entire week.

Room Tip: The reception is very helpful - as long as the park isn't fully booked, they are very willing to...

we hired four of the bungalows and all of our party were very pleased with the complex my brother had stayed there before and it was on his recommendation that we all booked none of us was disappointed our bungalow must have been owned private as the bathroom was finished to a much higher spec to the other three the others just having a shower over the bath and ours wonderful walk in shower which made the others seem dated
we found all of the staff very helpful and friendly and would not hesitate to go back very good value for money

The apartments are nice, the staff are very friendly, we had lunch in a restaurant at the sea front and the food was great. The breakfast at the hotel was not very good, the orange juice was either orange squash or orange juice mixed with water, one slice of bacon, one fried egg and the bread rolls where very dry, one slice of tin pineapple, and half of tin peach. We paid for the breakfast for 4 days for 3 persons 24 euros per day.. on the last day we had full lovely breakfast somewhere else and it was lovely. The matresses in the beds very uncomfortable also.

Room Tip: We stayed in house No 153 ground floor and very easy to offload your suitcases with the parking jus...

Excellent hotel, very close to cabanas, which is a delightful little fishing village, lots of nice little restaurants at reasonable prices, the reception staff a hotel are very helpfully with things like cycle hire, taxi bookings and car hire, nice big pool and very nice bar/restaurant, there is also a train station called conceicao a short walk away, can catch train to nearby tavira, faro or to Vila real santo Antonio where you can catch the ferry to Spain, some of the rooms don't look much from the outside but you'll be pleasantly surprised when you get in them

Room Tip: The bungalows near the pool are spacious and have good facilities

A visit again in October 2013 tirned out to be just as good as the last one. We had superb service from management and restaurant. We rented good bikes at the establishment and had a whole day trip to Vile Real at the border to Spain, 30 kms each way. If you get tired, you can put the bikes on the train one way!
Padras Rainha and Tavira is one of our favorites!

My partner and I stayed for 2 weeks early Sept 2013. We found the place to be ideal. the apartments are a little dated at this stage but the location and layout more than compensates It is close to everything and very quiet and peaceful, well spread out with plenty of open space and green and planted areas..The place was clean and beds very comfortable Staff were very helpful and polite.
Cabanas, while quite small ,has plenty of really good restaurants and every evening was an dining adventure. I would recommend The Ideal Restaurant on one of the small side streets but be sure to book.It is one of the few places that we have been to that we both agree we will return to and will certainly be staying at the Pedras Rainha when we do

Room Tip: We would stay on the second floor (Its just two floors) to avoid hearing footsteps above
