“Peaceful, relaxing, comfortable, and everything you need very close by.”
Reviewed 30 November 2014 for a stay in November 2014

Super apartment, relaxing and welcoming resort with great restaurants and super value.
Ron and charmayne were in touch on arrival to make sure we had everything we needed and gave us all information we could of thought to ask for plus more.
A gorgeous fishing village with a super walk along the front to a boat to the most amazing beach you would have to travel to Australia to find one that compares.
A trip to Spain was a fifteen minute train ride and 15 minute ferry crossing and would recommend it to all who stay.
We have already booked again for February! As the november weather was superb.
Thank you Ron and charmayne for this new destination find

“Beautiful apartment in a gem of a resort”
Reviewed 21 October 2014 for a stay in October 2014

From the moment we booked the owner was in touch with good information regarding location, restaurants, guidance for our stay etc. When we arrived we were extremely impressed with the apartment which is beautiful, has everything you could need, home from home, it has a balcony overlooking the pool, although it was a bit too cold for us there were a few swimming. A five minute walk and we were in the centre of town and at the sea, where a short, taxi boat ride took us to the long golden beach, much like the carribean. The cafe's and fish restaurants were very reasonably priced and provided good friendly service. We will most definitely return to Cabanas.

“Cabanas - Highly Recommended”
Reviewed 14 October 2014 for a stay in October 2014

Enjoyed a lovely few days in this beautiful and clean apartment which is well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Location is very convenient for the boardwalk and local bus service to Tavira. Met promptly by Wendy at the airport and given a tour around Cabanas with useful information about local facilities and the best restaurants. Beautiful beach a short boat ride away, well equipped for this time of year with comfortable loungers and brollies, although can imagine it gets very busy in high summer. (Tip: loungers/brollies at the front are 12 euros and cheaper at 10 euros in the back row.) Cabanas quite small so although bus and train available and easy to use, would recommend hiring a car if staying more than a few days. Very useful local information received from Ron prior to arrival which is also available in the apartment – tried out a number of suggested restaurants and particularly recommend Europa, A Grelha and Cantinho do Pescador, all of which were reasonably priced with excellent fish and very drinkable local wine. Helpful advice provided by Ron via text quite late at night on how to work the tv (above and beyond) although we never did manage to get the dvd player working! Would have no hesitation in rebooking - well worth a visit.

“Can't recommend it enough!”
Reviewed 13 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

My family and I rented Ron & Charmayne's apartment through Airbnb for a week and we loved it! The apartment is bright, well decorated, clean and very spacious. The pool was also very nice, you get access to a ping pong table and gym in that area too. The neighbourhood is quiet and secure, and it's perfect if you're looking for a relaxing holiday. Also, it's only a 10 minute walk from the apartment to the main shops/ cafes/ restaurants with a view to the river (Ria Formosa). The local agents Jeff & Wendy were very nice and helpful, and the communication with Ron & Charmayne was super easy all the way through. They are very approachable and answered any questions we had very quickly and nicely :) I can't recommend this listing enough!

“Amazing Family Holiday”
Reviewed 15 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We have just returned from a fantastic family holiday in the Casa das andorinhas iberica.

The Accommodation
This is an excellent apartment for all, situated on the first floor of a small and private complex; our home from home was more than we could have wished for. The ample layout of the apartment is not done justice by the pictures, there is a large master bedroom with fitted wardrobe, safe and large double bed, The en suite is spacious and well equipped with Bath, Shower, Bidet, WC and Vanity unit and came with enough towels and linen for our stay. The bonus with the master bedroom is its own private balcony for you to sit out on away from the main balcony and enjoy a peaceful relaxing drink away from the rest of the family. The second bedroom was again well furnished with twin beds and fitted wardrobes and was positioned next to the main bathroom which comprised of a shower, WC and vanity unit. The main lounge/living room was very large indeed sporting two leather sofa beds, a dinning table for four and cable TV for those rare occasions you want to stay in and relax, there is also a breakfast bar that looks through an open hatch in to the kitchen. The main balcony is off the living room and overlooks the swimming pool shared by the small number of apartments in the complex. This balcony again had been furnished with a small set of table and chairs to allow you to have breakfast outside in the glorious sun or you can just while away the hours sat on the two sun loungers provided on the balcony. The kitchen had everything you could need, from a large fridge freezer, kettle, toaster, microwave, a washing machine that was easy to use and worked very well and meaning you could travel light (something our 15 year old daughter failed to appreciate). The dishwasher made the chores of cleaning up after eating a joy so you were free enjoy your holiday. We would also recommend the welcome package for those arriving at unusual times as it means you had food and water in the apartment when you arrived. One of the main bonuses we found was the hot water to the apartment which was hot and plentiful, with powerful showers a real bonus (for those that have suffered from a tepid trickle at less well equipped holiday locations). The apartment was well presented, clean, tidy, the decor throughout is tasteful but not overstated making for a relaxing atmosphere with plenty of lighting and plug sockets. (Adapters required) Additional to the apartment was a lovely swimming pool that was shared by the small complex of apartments and came with sun loungers and shades; and there was also table tennis and table football to feed that competitive edge if needed or just for a laugh as we found. There is also a new gym almost complete that has enough equipment to get a good work out if required.

The Welcome and Support in Cabanas
From the moment we landed and walked out in to the arrivals lounge we were greeted by Wendy, one half of the husband and wife team that manage the apartment. Wendy was very friendly and helped us in loading the car before giving us a wealth of useful information about the apartment, the local area of Cabanas and the neighbouring towns. After we had dropped our luggage off Wendy took us on a quick tour of cabanas to help us get our bearings and understand a bit more about the village of cabanas and where to find things. At the apartment we were greeted by Jeff (the other member of the tag team) who showed us around the apartment and how everything worked. Once they were happy we were comfortable they reassured us by giving us their contact details and explaining where they lived and left us to relax and enjoy, making sure we knew we could contact them for any questions. Within the apartment there are numerous leaflets and a guide showing local interests, travel timetables, restaurants and suggested outings. Most of the trips can be booked online or in some of the shops along the seafront, you can also go in to the reception at the Golden Club resort (5 minutes round the corner) and they have all the literature and tour guides to aid you.

The Owners
We were swayed in to booking the apartment by the owners, not because they have a great sales patter, but by the enthusiasm they have for the apartment and location and how much it had to offer, and we were not disappointed. Both Ron and Charmayne were very helpful in assisting us in trying to get the dates that suited us best and also in helping to locate possible flights. They were in regular contact in the run up to the holiday ensuring that everything was on track and with any additional help they could provide. They also contacted us shortly after arriving to ensure that everything was up to standard and there were no issues, which if there had been they offered to support us, even though they were on holiday themselves. Again once they were confident that we were happy they left us to enjoy our holiday. On returning they contacted us to confirm that all had gone well and also to understand any feedback we had that could help improve the experience for the next lucky people using the apartment, showing that as owners they are always happy to listen to their customers and work hard to meet the needs and improve things as often as they can.

Cabanas
Wow… for those of you that have done Portugal before like I had Cabanas is a slice of heaven, in comparison to the hustle and bustle and almost English seaside town feel of Vilamoura and Albufera. From the moment you step out of the apartment it feels different, it is serene and peaceful, yet warm and welcoming. The relaxed pace of the village is unrelenting forcing you to unwind and become enveloped by the essence of the place. Your first venture out into Cabanas is a real thrill ride as you work your way along the quaint twisting and turning side streets heading closer and closer to what you sense is the beating heart of the village. Your excitement grows as you smell the fresh sea breeze and then it hits you as you step out onto the front and along the boardwalk. The sheer beauty of where you are hits home and your eyes are drawn to the amazing beach sandbank across the small channel that looks and feels like an island beach with golden shore lines easing there way in tranquil blue waters. And then as your body becomes accustomed to what is in front of you, you sense the life buzzing around, just behind you on the front, as you turn and see all the café’s, restaurants, shops, stalls and even musicians enticing you in to Cabanas life. The front is warm and welcoming by day with locals greeting you as you pass but not forcing you to step in to there establishment more a case of them showing you what they have to offer and letting you choose. By night however the front is alive, teaming with life as it seems everyone is out just enjoying life, walking the boardwalk or sitting and chatting in café’s, dancing to the live bands that seem to be there one minute and gone the next. When you finally do decide to sit and enjoy refreshments at one of the cafes the staff are very friendly and polite and allow you to go about ordering at your own pace without pressure, before churning out their delectable wares from what seems like a tardis of a kitchen.
We didn’t manage to try all the restaurants as there are too many, and if you are the adventurous type some of the best places to eat can be found tucked away in some of the side streets, so please don’t just sit out on the front however tempting the view is. Our favourite places that we found are: Pizza Roma on the Front, Vitaminos on the Front, D’Ines (leave the apartment and turn right, pass the spar and turn right and it is on your left) amazing dining experience with succulent meat and fish you cook your self on hot stones. Jeronimo’s at the far end of the boardwalk did amazing steaks with ample portions. Also if you fancy a lavish takeaway try “Eat Me” a little harder to find on Rua Marechal Carmona, just off the front. We recommend you go in the afternoon and order your food for the evening and then pick it up later that day. Excellent food, reasonably priced.

Exploring the area
A boat trip to the beach is a must and the golden beaches are a sight to behold as you relax on the shoreline of a sand bank or take a swim in the sea. We recommend you take food and drink if you are staying for any time as the café on the beach is slightly more expensive and also an umbrella in the hot season as the sun beats down and there is no natural shade. The town of Tavira is a short taxi journey away and should cost around €10 each way but Tavira is a beautiful harbour town with many shops and restaurants and even has a modern shopping complex, Grand Plaza, if you fancy searching out some more modern shops. Also worth taking a trip up to the old castle in Tavira and having a freshly squeezed OJ as you walk through the public gardens and look out from this amazing vantage point above the town. For those that want to explore the wildlife of the Ria Formosa you can hire a sight seeing tour from the boardwalk in Cabanas. We also enjoyed a day out at Zoo Marine Water Park and watched the dolphins; as well as a cruise down the Algarve coast on the Liana catamaran, where we ventured into some of the amazing sea caves and had dinner on a secluded beach. A trip to Seville in Spain was also a great day out. Seville is a historic town with stunning buildings and architecture and you must visit the ‘Playa de Espana’ built to celebrate the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929.

All in all this was a fantastic family holiday, in an ideal location, staying at a beautiful apartment, supported by amazingly helpful people. And we are already looking at when we can return !

“A perfect week away!!”
Reviewed 17 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

From the moment I made the booking for myself, my partner and parents to stay at Casa das Andorinhas Iberica the experience was first class. Ron and Charmayne were perfect "hosts". They provided us with plenty of information before we even set off - how to find the apartment, local restaurants, day trips, public transport, where to go and explore etc. We arrived about 10pm, (after a short and easy drive from Faro) and were greeted by a lovely couple at the apartment, Jeff and Wendy, who gave us our keys and helped us get our bearings.
The apartment was immaculate, with a double room (with ensuite) , a twin room, another bathroom, good sized kitchen and lounge - with wifi and a TV. The balcony overlooking the pool was perfect for breakfast each morning and for relaxing on during the day/evening.
Local restaurants were excellent - we didn't need to leave Cabanas to find somewhere with a menu we would all enjoy and it allowed us to eat out every evening.
Having a hire car made it easy to visit Seville in Spain on one day and also go to Alcoutim - a lovely little village where we were able to Zip-wire from Spain back to Portugal!
The stunning beach at Cabanas is effectively an island that requires a short ferry trip from the boardwalk to get to (€0.75 each way). Also from the boardwalk you can hop on a number of ferries that will take you along the coast to Tavira or out to sea to look for dolphins.
i would thoroughly recommend this apartment to anyone looking to enjoy some great weather and lovely food. You can choose to relax all day on the beach, by the pool or on the waterfront whilst enjoying a beer. Totally perfect for couples, families or even on your own! Ron and Charmayne made the holiday so easy before we'd even arrived. I cant wait to go back! 10/10
