Just spent the best part of a week at castle oliver farm, we stayed in black rock cottage (2 adults , 2 girls , 1baby)while my parents, brother and kids stayed at coach house . We chose castle oliver farm so we could retrace family ties in the area & did just that .The accommodation was fantastic , very clean , warm & welcoming .views were fabulous and all we could have wanted at our finger tips , Alyce the owner even found us a baby walker and went well beyond our expectations to make our stay comfortable, she even had easter eggs for the kids. The period features of both houses but coach house in particular gave you a glimpse back in time , all mod cons available also. Kids loved it , only suggestion I would have is the addition of a set of swings but our kids played outside from dawn til dusk regardless, will definitely be back !!

We enjoyed a glorious short stay at Seefin Cottage at Castleoliver Farm in August 2013 - the cottage is beautifully appointed and really are a home from home. A great deal of care has been taken and the standard is far higher than you find in most self catering cottages.

The surroundings are really special; you can wake in the morning to views of the sun coming up over the mountains.
The welcome from the hosts Alyce and Michael is warm but unobtrusive and they are very helpful. The "welcome pack" was really appreciated. If you want a peaceful, beautiful location and a warm welcome these cottages are ideal and offer excellent value for money.

Stayed at Castleoliver Farm last weekend for a wedding at the Castle across the road. We booked the Coach House and some friends had booked Seefin Cottage. Both were very nicely appointed, especially the Coach House which is simply stunning. The owner Alyce was incredibly friendly, very helpful and couldn't do enough for us. The location is lovely, just beneath the Ballyhooragh (?) mountains which you can see clearly from the gardens - often shrouded in mist. The houses have excellent facilities, very comfortable furnishings and the Coach House even had a bubbly spa bath in the ensuite. The farm is a proper home from home and you'll find tea and coffee making stuff, a dishwasher with a couple of tablets, and loads of crockery and a proper coffee making machine thing. The piano needs a tune up but if that's the only complaint then it can't be a bad place can it? Alyce has a few dogs who may have a bit of a nose around but they're very gentle and friendly too. I can find no bad points about the cottages at all really. We had a great time at the wedding made all the better by staying at these lovely houses. Brilliant.

This is my second time staying here and on my return I found the place to be as charming and wonderful as the last time. This time we took two houses and both where fresh and beautifully decorated. The finishing touches where outstanding as I would expect from the quality of my previous visit. Alyce and Michael where fantastic hosts and we missed some of the animals that had passed on but found friends in the new four legged friends. They were an absolute pleasure and joy to play with. If only they could have come home with us and wished we had seen more of them. I hope to make another visit and stay with Castleoliver farm again this year as the accommodation and country side has been a breath of fresh air and a great retreat from the normal hustle and bustle. It has been a wonderful relaxing break and thank you again to Castleoliver farm for making some of my fondest memories.

Travelled to Ireland all the way from NZ to be a guest at an amazing wedding at Castle Oliver. Shame about the accomadation. Unit we had was damp, smelt musty, beds were damp and floor in the bathroom was constantly wet. We had to buy hot water bottles to warm our beds. Over priced for what we received. Thank god we had a fantastic time at a beautiful wedding, the Irish people are amazing, their hospitality is out of this world.

My family booked the Coach house at Castle Oliver farm for a week beginning 27th October, 2012, the welcome we got from Alyce was amazing, the accommodation had everything you could need and more, well beyond expectations. Tea, coffee, milk and biscuits were waiting for us when we arrived and fire lit. It was pure heaven. The beds are so comfortable you would want to stay in them all day. The location is amazing, we travelling around a few of the villages and I know why it is called the Golden Vale, all the views were amazing. My son got married in Castle Oliver on 31st October and it was only around the corner. Some of the wedding party stayed in Blackrock cottage and Millhouse cottage and they were all very happy.

Room Tip: This is such an amazing location and such spectacular views you dont really want to leave the house...

These are great cottages in a beautiful but remote place, but they fall far short of their potential and have poor value for money. There was a strong musky smell, the TV did not work, and iron almost ruined our clothes. Dogs run free, scaring the bejaysus out of our children. The entrance gate closes at night and cannot be opened. Electricity is coin-operated, leaving you in constant fear of running out of power.
