“Good location average hotel”

This hotel is well located in a beau village in a lovely medieval square. The rooms were adequate and reasonably clean but sparsely furnished. The wifi was weak and intermittent. Thankfully next door there was Chez Niko cafe and restaurant where there was great food and drink In a welcoming atmosphere and strong wifi to boot. Our large group had two excellent dinners at Chez Niko with good wine recommendations at amazingly low prices. The best thing about the hotel was that it was next door to Chez Niko.

Room Tip: Great restaurant next door

Yes, the room standards are kind of strange but the atmosphere is authentic. Do not expect hi tech or commodity room services. That said this is a perfect place to go back in time. Smal compound, great climate, proximity to wineyards and traditional agriculture, cultural deja vu, wonderful landscapes and friendly people. AND the better part - at least for us was the restaurant. Wine menu small bit solid and build to accompany the dishes served. Traditional French cooking with good raw products and excellent serving. Really worth a romantic dinner, which is exactly what we had.

We had a diabolical experience at the Hotel des Consuls in Castelnau de Montmiral. The manager/owner of the hotel made it very clear that he had the “contract and duty” to extract one night of tariff from us, but he had absolutely NO contract or duty to be on reception to check us in when we arrived; he had absolutely NO contract or duty to have a functional telephone answering system as a standby for the absent reception; he had absolutely NO contract or duty to inspect the rooms prior to occupation to ensure that they were clean of hair in the bathroom and dust balls in the bedroom and that the toilet roll holders were not falling off the wall; he had absolutely NO contract or duty to ensure that the beds could be slept in and that the springs had not collapsed (think sway back pig) and the base frame legs were lose and bent giving the bed a 5 degree tilt to one side = no sleep all night (so what were we paying for?). And No the manager did not need us to show us the problems, he conceded that we might have had issues, BUT he did have his contract and his duty to take our money. And he did have lots of excuses which outweighed any service to us; its nearly November; we have been too busy fixing the bathrooms; we are going to renovate over the winter; if he had been contacted at midnight we would have been moved us to another room (see the problems at reception); he was having an argument with his wife and daughter, and so on. Get the picture? The management at this place makes Fawlty Towers look 5 star. This is one hotel to avoid.

Room Tip: Avoid this place, but come and have a look at the town

We stayed in this charming hotel on our way to Provence. The small town is full of character. The restaurant connected to the hotel was unfortunately closed but the very friendly proprietor helpfully suggested the bistro across the beautiful square which is the main feature of Castellion.
The room we stayed in was lovely, with high ceilings and hand-made ceramic floor-tiles reminiscent of some of the paradors we have stayed in.
There is secure under cover parking available which is welcome even if getting to it demands a labyrinthine journey.
We had a lovely time here and we're very taken by the personal help of our host and his delightful wife.

Very welcoming small hotel. Very clean and comfortable family run hotel. Proprietor is very friendly and accomodating. This was an excellent location from which to venture forth for day hikes in the St Antonin Noble Val region. Would most assuredly return.

If you love old historical places which have stood the test of time, this is a great place to stay for a day or so. Walking around the local area is a treat. The rooms in the hotel are quite small, but very comfortable and very reasonably priced. A buffet breakfast is offered which was great value. There are few restaurants close by to tempt your tastebuds. There is a swimming pool availabe. The owners are helpful and offered many suggestions of nearby places to visit.

it's not a 5 stars hotel, but very nice and quite in small village.
There are 2 restaraunts near it. It is very fresh inside and no condition required.
Personell is very welcome.
I'd recommend to visit it.
