“Slipped somewhat! ”

Had lunch here. It was ok but not memorable. Chicken jalfrezi was dryish. I agree with the reviewer who thought the food more English than Indian.

“Viceregal quality”
Reviewed 7 November 2013

I love Indian food and always look for a good opportunity to indulge in the spicy deliciousness of this cuisine. The Last Viceroy is an excellent place for indian food lovers to dine, but I suspect that it is also a good place for those new to Indian food to get themselves an education in different flavours. Three of us started with onion bhaji's - which were tasty but a tad greasy; then we shared a range of dishes - prawn, lamb, chicken and vegetable. All were delicious - and they came at the same time and piping hot. I would recommend particularly the tandoori lamb - which managed to be both succulent and slightly crispy all at once - a balance which is often difficult to achieve. The prawn dish was outstanding and our server was right to direct us to the king prawns for their king size taste experience. I generally lean towards a stuffed naan to accompany the food and we had the Peshwari naan - we should have had three of them they were so good with the prawn and lamb particularly. My companions are more into rice, and we ordered the garlic chicken rice. This is outstanding! A caution here in that i have no concept of too much garlic; but this rice dish is well worth the social rejection it may engender. The service was discreet, informative and friendly - altogether an excellent dining experience at a very reasonable price.

“Lovely food, good service...”
Reviewed 4 November 2013

Decided to go back after a considerable absence. Glad we made the effort. They moved tables to accommodate us and the food was lovely. They has been a change of waiting staff since our last visit so I think they are still learning - but good non the less... Excellent value too... Looking forward to going back!
