Casa Scola Agriturismo
Ranked #1 of 3 Gragnano B&B and Inns
Reviewed 6 August 2013

Based on the website (and the website of Italian Agriturismo's) we expected a very quiet and beautifully located old Casa and delicious Italian food. The rooms were basic but ok and quite clean. Extremely hot at night though as there was no remote control for the air conditioning in the room (we had to ask for it to be able to use it the second night). Dinner was very dissapointing: most trattoria's offer much better food and better value for money. And breakfast was even worse as there was no choice at all (but Cake and biscuits, and some bread and jam) and both mornings that we had breakfast, the bread was old (from at leat the day before) and the cappucino was cold and didn't taste at all as a real cappucino in Italy usually tastes. I wouldn't recommend it to anybody.

The people who run the place are extremely friendly and accommodating. The room had a balcony overlooking Sorrento. It was pretty noisy until quite late, there was some kind of private party going on. There were also lots of fireworks exploding in continuation. It seems Gragnano is very popular for any kind of religious ceremony, followed by dinner and fireworks. The price was very reasonable although they did want extra if you used the air-conditioning.
We ate dinner there and the food was very good, Gragnano is the capital city of pasta making.
Breakfast was ok, they only do continental style and for someone who doesn't have a sweet tooth there is no choice at all.
The road to the 'Casa' is very narrow, it's a medieval road along which are the ruins of mills. It is narrow and has some very tight curves, make sure you beep your horn at regular intervals as the locals drive very quickly.
We tried to visit Amalfi and Positano but it was wall to wall traffic at this time of year so we will try later on when it's not high season.

Room Tip: Ask for the room with the balcony overlooking Sorrento.
