Attended Topiary course, excellent course but did not really require overnight stay as first evening photographic presentation could have easily been presented on the next day as the actual day did not start until 09.30 and ended about 15.30
The restaurant staff seem poorly trained as they did not notice at the evening meal that three of my fellow dinners required fresh cutlery.
Bedroom walls are paper thin , and if staying in bedrooms A1-4 the wi-fi is absent although the hotel states it is available throughout the hotel

Dear Guest, thank you for taking the time to share with us your experience regarding your recent stay at the Abbey in relation to the Topiary course. I hope this Topiary course was both enjoyable, educational and a success! We always appreciate comments from our guests so we can improve our service. I will investigate into the apparent lack of training from the catering team and I will share your review with our Catering Manager. We do have a very professional team at the abbey and they pride themselves on their attention to detail and the High level of service that we demand from them. I apologies that you and your guests have felt let down from their over-site on this occasion. I also notice in your review that you mention that you were having trouble logging onto our WIFI system in your bedroom. As it currently stands Missenden Abbey has Free WIFI access in all of our Public areas and Meeting rooms which is advertised around the Hotel, but this service is not yet set up for the bedrooms. We do however have a hard wired Ethernet cable in all bedrooms for people to access the internet via their Laptops. This being said we have been experiencing over the last year that a lot more people are doing away with laptops and preferring to use their phones or their tablets which do not have the capability to take a hard wired connection, and only can connect via a WIFI signal. This is why we are taking the decision to extend our free WIFI into our bedrooms as well. We make it a high priority to deliver high standards of service and constantly look at making the guest experience as positive as it can be, and this is why we have made the decision to extend the Free WIFI into bedrooms as well as meeting rooms and Public areas. It is feedback like yours which makes Missenden Abbey realize that we are making the right steps and making the right changes to suit all of our clients and Guests needs.
Thank you again for taking the time to review us and hopefully look forward to welcoming you back to Missenden Abbey again in the future.

We booked Missenden Abbey for our daughter's wedding reception.
Although we are local to the Abbey, it met our requirements in having a venue with reasonably priced accommodation for our guests as well as having a good reputation.

We cannot express enough thanks for the excellent wedding reception at the Abbey.

We were very impressed by the way everything was handled from our initial meetings through to the big day.

On the day everything ran perfectly the Abbey team, led by Jessica Levett, certainly added to making the wedding day a total success.

The catering team laid on a super wedding breakfast, which was matched with excellent service.
Many of our guests commented that it was the best wedding they had been too.

A great team effort, thanks to them all but especially to Jessica. Nothing was too much trouble and we felt totally confident in leaving it to them on the day.
Just what we wanted!

After nearly two years planning with Missenden Abbey's own Jessica Levett, we spent the most wonderful day celebrating our wedding at Missenden Abbey. The service was excellent and all our guests commented on how amazing the venue was.

This venue is ideal for couples looking for:

1. A venue that can present a fireworks display
2. A venue with picturesque grounds
3. A venue that serves EXCELLENT food
4. A venue offering a variety of menu options
5. A spacious honeymoon suite
6. Outstanding service from beginning to end
7. A venue that is very elegant
8. A venue that is very clean
9. A discount - there are weekday discounts of £1000 compared to a weekend wedding
10. An venue that offers an interesting location for wedding speeches - these can be done on a beautiful staircase

Couples might like to bear in mind this limitations:

1. The dance music ends at midnight
2. There is no fridge in the honeymoon suite (e.g. For champagne)
3. The dining room seats at most 58 people - further people sit in adjacent rooms away from the bride and groom
4. The price quoted is for the current financial year and can increase (e.g. By up to 5% of the quote) - we advise that couples ask about this when booking

Overall we thoroughly recommend Missenden Abbey to future couples.

We recently attended the Mamma Mia evening held in the grounds of the Abbey and organised by the Abbey conference centre. The weather was awful and whilst no blame can be put on the Abbey for this the whole evening was a rip off. £12.50 to effectively watch a DVD in someone else's garden! And a poor quality one at that! A cleverly worded flyer led us to assume the price included a BBQ but on arrival drinks and BBQ were extra. £4.50 for a gristle laden burger and the same for an IKEA style hotdog. Don't mention the price of drinks. It poured the whole evening and staff were nowhere to be seen. Not even a complimentary coffee to thank us for supporting the event in such awful conditions. An experience not to be repeated.

Dear Guest
Thank you for taking the time to share with us your experience regarding the Mamma Mia Outdoor Cinema Night. We always appreciate comments from our guests so we can improve our service. This is now the second Cinema night that we have laid on here at Missenden Abbey and we have now experienced both sides of the coin with the weather. The Viewing of Grease in 2013 was a glorious sunny evening and now this year torrential rain for Mamma Mia. Following a debrief we are going to continue to run these outdoor cinema nights at the ticket price £12.50 as we believe that for the whole experience of coming into the grounds of the Abbey to experience the views and atmosphere of the whole event this is acceptable. This being said we are going to be making some changes to next year. We will be offering out plots of grass on the front lawn to any groups who want to come and set up a small family gazebo if the weather looks bad. Unlike past years we will be allowing people to bring in small family picnics to eat during the film and we will also be working with both our team of Chefs and also our Bar supervisor to look at the quality of the food and Drink offered and also the prices that these will be offered at on the night. We make it a high priority to deliver high standards of service here at Missenden Abbey and our next outdoor event that we have running is a Medieval Display on the 13th September. If you are in the area this weekend please do come down because If we disappoint someone, we want it to be the last time. Please do check our website for more details. Thank you again for your feedback.
Many Thanks

Stayed here as were attending a wedding on site. A lovely day however the hotel bedrooms are awful! We had a tiny double bed, or maybe it was just a large single, which was pushed against the wall so you only had access from one side. Decor was very dated and there were broken drawers on the desk. The bathroom floor had a weird red stain running all down one side and the toilet was raised up on a small platform which bisected the tiny bathroom. The sink wasn't big enough to wash your face in without getting water everywhere. Also there were lots of silverfish insects crawling around on the floor which was particularly unpleasant when going to the loo. There were only 2 small towels provided which is woefully insufficient for a room for two adults. The larger of the two towels wouldn't even wrap round me, it was even too small to use for my head!!! The small towel was just a flannel!! We checked in the wardrobe but no spare towels or pillows provided.

The only reason you would stay here is if you're attending an event on site. Otherwise find somewhere nicer!

Dear Guest
Thank you for taking the time to share with us your experience regarding your recent stay with us here at Missenden Abbey. We always appreciate comments from our guests so we can improve our service.
You will be please to hear that we are in the final stages of planning to update our bedroom decor and refresh all of the en-suite facilities in our residential Coach House. I apologies that your bedroom didn't have the appropriate amount of towels as the booking clearly states that there were two people in the bedroom. I will also investigate the cleanliness of the En-Suites with our Head Housekeeper. If we disappoint someone, we want it to be the last time. Thank you again for your helpful feedback and I hope we can welcome you back to Missenden Abbey in the near future to experience the changes that we have made.
Many Thanks.
