“lovely hotel”
Reviewed 5 August 2013

I stayed at the hotel with several family and friends. The welcome was warm and friendly. The room was comfortable and in keeping with the building. Everywhere was clean and well presented and my young son said the bed was the most comfortable he'd ever slept in. Breakfast was delicious with a good range of choices. It is very conveniently located being right in the heart of town with its own car park. The bathroom was clean and although on the small side it had a good shower. Our room was right at the front on the ground floor however, we slept well with no disturbances. Will definitely use this hotel again.

We booked 5 rooms as our base for a special family weekend get together. It was a great place to stay. Very clean and well presented rooms. The breakfast and service were excellent and offered everything we could have wanted. The Rounceval House is a great place to stay and fully recommended o anyone needing a quality and value for money place to stay. Many thanks for making our stay feel so special.

Room Tip: Room 1 but they are all nice!

We stayed in the hotel for two nights for a wedding in Chipping Sodbury earlier this year. We were in room 2 which is very uniquely designed with a quirky bathroom; both the bedroom and bathroom were spotlessly clean. I also had a comfortable nights sleep with no disturbances. The hotel has a warm and friendly feel, and breakfast was excellent as there is a choice of both cooked (local produce) and continental breakfast such as fresh fruit, croissants and fruit juices.
Overall I would recommend this hotel to anyone, it is ideal for any kind of visit.

We stayed at the hotel for one night as we were going to a concert at the Westonbirt Arboretum.
The location is excellent; only a minute’s walk from the main street in Chipping Sodbury, and if you are visiting local attractions then Chipping Sodbury seems a good choice. It was about 20 minutes’ drive from Westonbirt. There is ample car parking (free) at the back of the hotel.

The building itself is historic (as is much of the town) and the interior decor in both the public areas and the rooms is well cared for. In our room, there was a flatscreen TV, and two bottles of water on the windowsill when we arrived. There is complimentary shower gel and shampoo in the bathroom.

We were a bit early to check in but had a very nice welcome from (I assume) the owner.

Breakfast was included in the price of our room and was delicious – there was a choice of full English or continental, with a range of juices, cereals and tea and coffee available.

There is a lounge and bar area should you need it. There is also an Italian restaurant right next door.

There were, unfortunately, a few things that let this hotel down:

I could not regulate the shower temperature; it seemed to be either boiling hot or freezing cold on every setting which made the experience fairly difficult!

The room was so hot, even with the window wide open, that it was difficult to sleep! It has been a very hot summer, to be fair, but perhaps fans could be provided?

There was a chocolate wrapper (not mine!) behind the bedside table. This is the sort of thing I wouldn’t normally notice, but you had to look behind it in order to turn off the bedside lamp.

Service at breakfast was a bit slow, unfortunately. They ran out of glasses for juice and it took a while for us to get attention to bring more. We also waited a while to order.

Overall I had a pleasant stay at Rounceval House and would stay there again if I was in the area. The small things that let it down are a shame but did not ruin the stay and I would recommend it to others.

We stayed at this hotel when driving round the local area. It's a nice old building in the main high street. Plenty of car parking to the rear. We had a room on the top floor. It was nice enough but nothing special to be honest. It was a very hot night and I began to wish I had booked a chain hotel with aircon as it was just so hot. There were only 3 rooms booked and I couldn't help wondering
if the lower floors would have been cooler. Breakfast was lovely with fresh berries on offer. The hotel is fine, but I wonder really if its worth the money. I noticed a special offer for the month of August. All rooms £60 a night when booked direct with the hotel , which is a much better rate for what's on offer.

Room Tip: No lifts so ground floor is a must if you can't manage all the stairs

Stayed here for one night on business, would have been 2 but fully booked. I would not hesitate to recommend this beautifully kept hotel to anyone. A warm welcome from the hosts and the room was very clean and comfortable. A filling breakfast also awaits in the morning. Like I mentioned earlier , my booking was last minute and unfortunately I could only stay for one night in this lovely hotel because it was fully booked.
Only a short distance down the High Street are some Old pubs with beer gardens for those long summer nights. Will hopefully be back again.

Room Tip: Stayed on the top floor during our 'hot spell' and it was a little bit warm during the night...

Rounceval House is a beautifual hotel in Chipping Sodbury in the Cotswolds. The house dates back to the 17th century and while it may not have all the mod cons such as a gym or pool, the welcome is very warm, the rooms tastefully furnished and the breakfasts hearty and tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay and will no doubt return
