Quatermains 1920s Safari Camp
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 22 June 2014

We stayed two nights at quatermains camp and it was one of the highlights of our honeymoon.
We had a big tent with al the comfort you can get: a flushed toilet, warm shower, a nice bed and hot jugs! And above all: very nice dinners with the friendly staf. The hospitality of Duane, Ryaan and Julie is a big plus. We had wonderfull game drives with Duane and learned a lot about the wildlife. In one word: FANTASTIC

Quatermain's Camp is one of my best travel experiences ever! The owners Riaan and Julie are extremely lovely! Booking directly with Julie was a seamless process and Riaan is not only an energetic quide he also has great stories to tell over a drink by the fire after safari. We were lucky enough to also have Duane as a guide, he is awesome! He is so extremely lovely, and his stoke and passion for nature is contagious making for a super fun safari and camp experience! Get to Quatermain's Camp, I can't recommend it enough!

I had an absolutely brilliant time at Quatermain's! The animal sightings were incredible, the rangers were so friendly and their knowledge was vast. The food was perfect safari fare and the tented safari set up was perfect! Rianne, Julie and Duane were the perfect hosts and we shared so many laughs and happy times. Many thanks again to them all!

We really had a fantastic time in this camp. Very warm welcome, kindly and good service. The owners as well as the rangers and the kitchen cosset the guests. Fantastic game drives. When you are prepared to abstain from luxury up to a certain extent then you can live a breath of adventure and freedom in the bush.

My husband and I spent a wonderful night with my parents at Quatermains Camp, and thoroughly enjoyed it! Our guides, Blake and Craig were both very knowledgeable and so enthusiastic about the reserve and animals. We saw so much, including lions, elephant, rhinos and two very full and lazy cheetah's, and all so close up it was amazing. The camp itself is lovely and we were made to feel so welcome, the food delicious and great company. A lovely addition of the hot water bottle in our beds was definitely appreciated that night! Thanks so much to Riaan and Julie for welcoming us and also for dreaming up such a special place.

These people understand the need for authentic experience. They are most gracious hosts, very relaxed and interested in their guests and in giving those guests the best possible experience. The food and accommodations were really good, and the rangers were top notch. They have a genuine passion for their work and are very good at it. Several times Craig or Blake would be the first to figure out where the rhino, cheetah, or lions would be ... and would radio other groups to tell them as we left the site. We saw the big 5 - all but buffalo with Quatermains. But more important than that was the sense of being transported out of one's time as well as place. Do it.

Room Tip: The tents are on platforms, with shower, toilet, and a front porch. Just the right amount of campin...
